Rubbernuke.exe has stopped working

Genuine curiousity, and I'm asking this as a non Powerplayer but how would you guys feel if they took modules out of the Powerplay, and put them into tech brokers and instead do unique faction cosmetics that are cycled to the shop after say x amount of time and new ones are put up for the factions? Floated this idea a long time ago, but now that powerplay 2.0 thought I'd ask. lol
We all know that exclusive modules was a cynical ploy to increase engagement in PP. PP was such a stinker that it didn't work, better idea would've been to make PP itself engaging gameplay. Let's see if it happens.

I like this idea. I feel the rewards (Powerplay 1.0 = modules, Powerplay 2.0 = ?) shouldn't affect gameplay or give anyone an advantage (e.g. Prismatic Shields) so that people pledge to a power because they want to not because of the module offered.

or actually have pp matter to the game as a whole so there is no need for any reward carrot item to participate.

one of the failures of pp 1.0 was fdev made it some isolated optional game mechanic. nimby players could continue playing while completely unimpacted by pp in any practical measure.

shiny carrots wont be needed if the impact of pp is felt even if you don't pledge. no matter what thing you are doing, some aspect of it is either advantageous or detrimental to your day to day gaming sessions.

then it becomes in your interest no matter what you are doing to at least consider the context of pp. Which is good for the whole game. because pp is supposed to be dynamic, player-driven content that can dramatically change in reaction to player activities. that's the kind of fluidity open ended games need. the narrative can't be dependent upon to provide constant change and player agency.

pp is about embracing player agency. if that is half donkey'd again then they should just fully go all in on single player so we can get mods and stuff put in because multiplayer without player agency is a handicap that nobody is asking for.

let players promote factions, kill factions, upend the entire bubble in a huge series of wars or defend its peace and expand it. make it hard to do it (so it can't be subverted by a minority), but make it really matter and be really persistent if it's done.

I have two issues with the thargoid war, the use of the Orthrus to stop alerts and the Glaive. (Honestly that ship almost made me uninstall the game)

According to another thread around here, they sure put the brakes on the Orthrus sampling recently.

I don't mine the Glaive - I just adjusted my ship build. As a bonus it works really well on glaives, scouts AND interceptors.

Open only would be the ultimate dream scenario. Giving real purpose to Open mode, Power Play and PvP.
No it wouldn't, there's a whole thread for that :ROFLMAO:

pledged to Alissa Lagivny-Duval for roleplay reasons, and her special equipment was particularly ill suited for my play style
Yeah... I know the feeling. I'm pledged to ALD and I fly ships with Medium hardpoints. Sigh.

At least I could roleplay being a sneaky infiltrator temporarily into the other powers to acquire CytoScramblers and Pack Hounds.

Personally, module access wouldn’t matter either way to me. I originally pledged to Alissa Lagivny-Duval for roleplay reasons, and her special equipment was particularly ill suited for my play style. I’m now pledged for Aisling Duval for similar reasons. Still haven’t acquired the prismatic shields, because I don’t enjoy how merits are earned currently, thus the focus on BGS manipulation until Frontier transformed it into an influence grind.

There is quite a bit of evidence that “module hoppers” have a detrimental affect on PowerPlay in general, so there is that.
That was my very first plan. I had to jump like 30 times and then her system was like everyone else's. Then I went to the forum found some virtual communists and joined them.

The longer I think about it, the more I'm afraid of it all being just a very cruel trolling. You know, before the company blows out next month, give it a loud bang at least. It is better to burn out than to fade away.
It's not gonna blow out next month. They just downsized operations.

Erm.... sorry mate... I'll let you get on with that one on your own....

Neat paintjob though - parhaps there is a use* for the Scout aftar all...?

* ...nah...
I do get why that's the general opinion. My point of view is that whether you agree that it's a fun to fly ship that needs some tweaks to give it a solid use case or that it's a useless piece of junk and they should all be fired into SagA*, preferably after being eaten by Titans, it amounts to the same thing that it could do with a buff in some way.

I seem to remember the Python being so good it had to be nerfed, so we at least have the precedent for adjustments being made when something stands out from the others. The Asp S just stands out for a different reason.
