Rubbernuke.exe has stopped working

Unfortunately, all we know so far is that the existing system will be ripped out.

I'm assuming that all of the powers and the power leaders will stay as they are (maybe a couple of changes on the federation side to reflect the election), but apart from that, it could be a case of anything goes.

Do we actually know this? I've been assuming that it’ll be like Engineering 2.0 and BGS 2.0: not a complete rework, but a refinement of the existing system.

Edit: ninja’d

I’ll have to rewatch that but, but a rework is not the same as a complete replacement.

On another note…

gasp I can't even put this excess into English words anymore.

Doesn't feel excessive IMO, but that could be because I had fun in the process, and the little bit of frustration made the eventual discovery all the sweeter. In the process, I got to do some SRV flyving, and some low altitude flying. Plus my typical ED play session is usually about an hour. Say what you will, but I just love searching for lifeforms!

Besides, the payout was more than worth it. I was only two jumps away from what passes for civilization on the edge of the Bubble, so I decided to turn it in, before continuing on to deep space. The samples provided nearly 100 million, which almost covered the cost of Krait Expectations alone.

Afterwards, I headed back into deep space. Before I had to call it a night, I also found two more worlds with relatively diverse life in a nearly unexplored system. Hopefully, things will go faster as I develop my lifeform spotting skills.

I was making light fun.

That's not what Arthur was saying in the Livestream though. It's a full reworking of powerplay, that's more than just some pictures don't you think?
What I think doesn't matter. What they think does.

Some classics:
We respect your time (g5 engy rolls that give less than 1% progress, only scanning one plant at a time)
Personal Narrative (still looking for that one)
We consider Prestige ranks to be content (self explanatory)
:p

At the very least I expect CC and merits as a concept gone, and once those go you then lose other aspects to the point the day to day of Powerplay changes.

It would be nice for FD to let us in on the info though, and plans for the switch far ahead of time for fine tuning*

*and not because Iwantitnow

They want us to enjoy blowing up/Disabling/making retreat (delete as appropriate ) Titan's first. Think we'll have to waiting until April / May until we hear something about it. We've got about four months of kicking bug bottom until then.

Normally I'd agree with you, but this is different in that you are dealing with eleven player groups and what could be a radical change in a highly complex system. I accept you don't want to overshadow U18 but right after that if you want U19 to really fix PP you need to build goodwill and ensure its match fit.

I mean, four months prior to release is time you spend tweaking the beans off the thing and everyone is ready for it- other than the system being new its not going to be mysterious like Thargoid reveals...not even a ginger six toed Aisling.

Typical...

My plan was to find bromelite so I can unlock Bill Turner, and get my ships prepped for PowerPlay 2.0. I got so distracted while looking for alien life, that I almost forgot to make sure I probed any rings in a system looking for that particular mineral.

Almost. In the system where this was taken, I found hot spots for low temperature diamonds, void opals, painite, platinum, and a several other minerals. Nothing what I was looking for, naturally. :(

I usually ended up not finding what I was looking for either. They keep telling me to just play the game but I never saw a point in visiting a PoI where an Anaconda was waiting in a trap with a dozen escorts and 8t of gold as bait.

Players dont respect their time, because they try to catch unicorn of "last health point" for their spicy hull
As a completionist, it bothers me to not have each of the circles full even if the gains are marginal compared to the material input.

And I’m well aware of how wasteful it is on materials. I do it anyway unless I run out(or need to use the limited amount I have to get another module upgraded) because I have a strangely wired brain.

Me, too! But it's not really the game's problem, it's my problem and mine alone. And I'm fine with it😛

I actually enjoy collecting stuffz, it's a good change of pace after all the mischief and mayhem😉

They respect, few missions can yield dozens mats, so even more lower grades after exchange.

It doesn’t help that most “This One Weird Trick” guides are really suboptimal, time and fun wise, when it comes many aspects of this game. I come across so many sources of data and manufactured materials while doing missions, I managed to replenish my engineering supplies while unlocking the Alioth permit after depleting them on two racing builds. More importantly, still have enough to do the same with Krait Expectations and have several G5 rolls in reserve for my next couple of ships. And that took about three to four hours to do, in a Cobra Mk III, no less.

Conventional forum wisdom probably would’ve taken at least twice as long, given how focused they are on doing one thing at a time. They would have me ignore the High Wake scan that is literally on my way out of a station’s mass lock. To ignore the ships, EEs or HGEs on my path to my destination. To not make a quick sweep on my WAVE scanner if I have reason to land on a world.

It boggles the mind, especially how those “one weird trick” guides are the epitome of grind, and the antithesis of fun. At least it would, if such behavior wasn’t so well known…

Worth a look at the rework of CP2077. They tried to adress all the one-trick-ponies and make the game overall more variable in how it can be played. There were like a handful of builds but you essentially mostly skill the same stuff each playthrough, wear the same stuff, shoot the same guns. I think they were somewhat successful. Crafting is no longer tied to skills. The gate seems to be availability of crafting mats. They aren't rare but don't suffice to upgrade it all anymore. You need to take priority decisions.

Things I've learned since getting to play last night:
  • I grossly overestimated how long it would take me to find a Bromellite hot spot
  • You can't drop into a hotspot like you can with another POI
  • Random Ganker NPCs can be annoying
    • It's not worthwhile trying to dogfight RG-NPCs with mining equipment
    • Krait Expectations defenses are more than adequate to tank incoming fire from said RG-NPCGs
  • You won't always find hostile NPCs after returning to the hotspot
  • Laser Mining is incredibly slow with the Mining Multi-Controller, and most of that is spent waiting for the collectors to collect.
  • My plan on synthesizing limpets in-situ wouldn't have worked. It uses up iron and nickel way too fast to be sustainable
    • I'm thankfully only three jumps away from "civilization," so I can load up on limpets
  • Mining can be a good activity to do while having breakfast and making your lunch for work... assuming no hostile NPCs are around
  • Two sessions of mining got me almost half of the Bromellite Bill Turner is requesting, which was the whole point of the Krait Expectations expedition.
Recent Frontier announcements has me wanting to stay close to the Bubble, but I’ve barely scratched the exploration itch I’ve got… decisions… decisions…
