Not hard when fighting ToC. They are and always have been a joke :D

Shouldn't be a problem for you anymore though, don't you all play in SubSalt's private group nowadays?

hahaha still using insulting language!! didnt you learn from the last time or were you the reddit mod who deleted the wrong post? we play the game how we want to play and wont be dictated to by anyone

we have gone back to enjoying playing the game as it is... we are no longer interested in being around elements that are not very nice ( I did want to use stronger language but wont)

I don't think that rebuy costs are the issue... How about:

Some people don't enjoy getting killed by random internet dudes for no particular reason.

I know, it's a long shot.

And WHY do they not like getting killed? Character doesn't actually die so what's the problem...the COST of the destruction IMO. If it Cost the player a lot less (or even nothing) then maybe there would be less combat logging?

Also the punitive costs are to high for solo IMO. I have 160 mill in the bank after exploring to Elite, I originally wanted to get a Python sorted out but the high costs are putting me off and I have basically shelved the game.

That's the long way of saying "quitting PvP because we're bad and can't back up our talk"

Going so far as to pull out of the PvP league mid-season and kick all your PvP players was quite funny, I must admit :)

The problem is that it doesn't work. Otherwise people wouldn't be complaining. Easy fix: Create a private group.

I see what you are saying, but as a hardcore PvEer, why should they? The PvPers, hybrid PvP/PvEers, and the PvEers who don't have a problem with PvP can all cooexist nicely in Open (well, i use nicely in the broadest sense of the word).

The hardcore PvEers like me can happily live on Group or Solo with zero tears.

heheheh yeah a ToC cmdr never fought in the "PvP League" it was all just a bunch of independent cmdrs some witch were members of ToC and are no longer .... 2 were asked to leave (because of our members guide) the others left with them......

we have not quit PvP!!!! just taking a break whilst we get some fixes for wings and instancing....

besides when its just SDC at the community goals or at an engineer bases ganking everything its boring fighting the same cmdrs again and again ... I have love for this game but I cant say that for some of the playerbase hence why we dont want to play with you lot any more ;)

have nice day!!!

The people I feel really sorry for in all this are the pirates. They can't function outside a PvP environment. As open becomes more and more the playground of the combat specialist, their prey goes away to a place where they might be able to follow but they can't function as pirates there. The creation of an open-pve mode as some folks have made extremely cogent arguments for would only make this process go faster.

When I first created my Cmdr I seriously debated hoisting the Jolly Roger myself, and at the time I could have. Now, there's nothing would make me take on piracy as a career.

I'm sure it would stop the min maxers.

So it would stop 1/3 (just making numbers up) of the combat logger population... I bet we'd see another thread about it soon.

I still prefer the solution to ban all combat loggers to solo / official PvE mode for one week.

People in this thread claimed that the game is broken because of combat loggers, while waiting for an offcial fix people could play in a private group so combat loggers don't interfere with their... enjoyment. Everyone who doesn't encounter combat loggers every 2 minutes could still play in open of course.

Not necessarily. I've made some proposals to allow 'non-lethal pirating'. Stuff like circumventing shields to break the cargo hatch, disabling the FSD etc. could still work in a PvE environment. If the trader is guaranteed to survive the encounter chances are high that he doesn't combat log.

This is just an example of what keeps me out of PvP, in general. The lack of respect for each other just takes all of the sheen off the experience.

There is nothing in open that you can't find in a Private Group. Including consensual PvP. I've been saying this for ages. Open has no benefit, unless you crave the environment it has evolved. Open is nothing more than one of the choices you make when you start up the game. Akin to 'What ship will I fly'. You can even change your mind, anytime you want. Remove the silly notion that open is somehow special, and play in the environment that best suits your interests and carry on.

This would benefit everyone. Those that don't want to be a players target, play where they can't target you. One side's happy. When that happens, fewer players will be inclined to CL because then there was a natural choice to be part of the games content. The other side is happy.

Work to remove the player attached stigma (you know the hiding, coward, carebear comments) to playing in Solo or PG, and then it will be easier to just leave open to the willing.

I posted something similar earlier. Pirates could be the saviour of open, by offering safe passage at mercenary rates. If it became widely known that at a CG you would have blockaders & pirates, blockaders will force you out of the system but Pirates will wing up with you in exchange for significant payment, The pirates get the opportunity to do some genuinely good PvP with the blockaders, and the traders get the excitement and a front row seat to some cool PvP with considerably less likelihood of hull loss.

But can they be trusted...

I don't know a single company banning it's players because of combat logging. You can't ban them anyway because you don't know if they lost connection unintentional.

Well, Riot actually does. How do I know? I've been banned for raking up too many "game dodges" and "ragequits" (didn't ragequit, but instead of wasting my time playing with some trolls, I rather take the ban for leaving a game than staying in there).

It's difficult to tell on a case basis, but over some time, a judgement call can be made. *)
Mr. Braben trying to be "the nice guy who doesn't want to offend anyone" doesn't work in the 2016 internet. If they make game rules, those game rules have to be enforced. Or don't bother with an online game.

*) And when the matchmaker servers are extremely shakey (or my WiFi repeater goes berserk), I do have issues with "combat logging" myself, even in solo mode. You get interdicted, blow the interdictor to smithereens .. "connection lost" yay.

Indeed. As a PvE pirate it doesn't affect me, but it seriously affects my PvP brethern.
