Same old song about cheaters

All those suggestions are meaningless though.

The game client and watchdog can have as many status monitors and increased timers that FD care to implement.

They mean nothing to a determined combat logger - who isn't going to either care about increased timers or the game client or watchdog.

Yes, again we have already covered this. You can't stop people ending task, but you can discourage it with repercussions.

Inferior to making it unnecessary by resolving the underlying problems that cause people to do it.

But let's start punishing the griefers first, shall we?

Better system security, better bounty hunters with moded weapons and shields hunting in wings and increased difficulty levels for repeated offenders.

AI in 2.1 level min

Worldwide wanted status above a set limit with station dock banning …. Etc.

All of these should already be in the game but then YouTube promotion goes out of the window

Aye, though according to some here it is.

Ironically, the chap at the top of Rinzler's list is a well known menu logger. And it's true that some of us regard it as cheating. I do, for one. But it's within agreed TOS so I wouldn't ever moan about it. I just think, and many others think, that menu-logging, as done by ace SDC pilot, Sundae, is really pathetic."Oh no, my pixel space ship is going to pop due to my inadequacy, I must exit the game!" Yeah. Lame.

Oh no: hours of my time spent on progressing towards a goal are going to be undone. Do I save them with a quick menu item or lose them.

Time is time. It is, in fact, the only currency we have a limited amount of.

"Oh no, it's those pesky loggers again who ruin our [SDC's] fun. They don't play the game properly. It's cheating"

I would show you the streamed by him video of Sundae logging, but he has removed it. Funny, that.

PM me with names and proof, and I'll get them kicked out.

I'm interested in your definition of cheating, Rinzler, and I mean that sincerely.

I like your videos, you seem like an intelligent and funny guy. But I struggle, personally, with people who menu log for any reason other than bugs. It's a personal foible, perhaps, but whether or not it's allowed in terms of TOS, it seems cheap and shoddy to me.

Your thoughts?

That's actually a pretty good test of Rinzler's honesty. If Sundae is still considered a member of SDC after this then pretty much every "combat logging is cheating" argument they have tried to put up will be shown as a self serving lie.

If your objective here was to make yourself out as an    , mission accomplished.

How is that video anything but confirmation of what I have said? The player was not killed and was relieved of cargo. That is piracy. If the video showed the T9 being blown up without dropping anything, no attempt to even target hatch which is what I was talking about as not piracy but ganking for lolz. Which there are many SDC videos showing just that.

Yea and by the sounds of it you seem to have made the assumption that I am a ganker.

I miss The Code. Except when they mode infiltrated, they had a place in the galaxy as pirates and were proper villains. Until pillockry becomes a profession, the same cannot be said about Salty Dog Poo.

Knew it. Actual cheating results in bans and there's page after page of SDC members on a certain website complaining about being caught using a certain memory alteration tool. And in the end the actual quote from the man itself is that combat logging is "a difficult subject" that they "continue to explore" and that he has "nothing to announce here".

Can't trust the word of someone who whines about combat logging and tries to put it on the level of memory hacking.

Not to defend SDC on any level, but memory alteration tools aren't much use in online games. Or at least shouldn't be if the devs are competent and realize that important data like cash/exp etc, should not be stored locally with the player. I really hope FD aren't making that basic mistake.

Nope I was quoting you to answer your question. I then carried on with what I wanted to say. Sorry if you felt the 2nd and 3rd paragraph was directed at you it wasn't just the top comment about CQC.

Cash/exp are stored on the (transaction) servers, the actual combat is P2P and all FDev gets are a few lines about who won/lost. How this can be abused is obvious, thankfully FDev has been clamping down on people who did.

It's why you sometimes see a hollow square with a few NPC squares around it moving in spurts every second or so on the radar, that player has a terrible connection to you so he and the NPCs his computer is simulating move erratically.
