Same old song about cheaters

Let me guess, born in the USA?

Indeed, and wore the uniform in Desert Storm and Desert Shield.
And I wouldn't want to live anywhere else - glad to visit, but don't want to stay.

And I'm sure certain socio-cultural differences lie at the heart of many an issue around here. I get it. Elite is born out of the UK, and Things Are Different.

On this side of the pond we think different, talk different, drive on the "wrong" side of the road. Over there, y'all think different, talk different and drive on the "wrong" side of the road.

We pay for our health insurance, your taxes pay for yours.
You have VAT, we don't.
You call it "football", we call it "soccer".
We can carry firearms, you write strongly worded letters.

But it's all good, as long as we can accept those differences as well and not hold them against each other.

Agreed.

Back to the topic at hand: combat logging is a cowardly exploit that ruins the game. Discuss!

Combat logging is the tool of the coward, as is private group and solo play. The difference is that combat logging is against the ToS.

That said, I can confirm that the discord link is real. Want to know where SDC is operating? What they're planning? Join and lurk in private.

Agreed.

I'll side with "a cowardly exploit", but not "ruins the game".
Because it doesn't affect me. I'm not going to pull some player out of supercruise to rob or attack, so it's a non-issue for me.

What really Ruins the Game are:

Interdictions that end up with me stuck inside a planet.
Mission Boards that take over 2 minutes to load.
A Galaxy map that takes 3 minutes to open.
0H 0M to complete my current mission for a bonus.
Corrupted Save Data caused by unique modules in storage.
500 Ly missions hauling 200 tons of cargo through hostile space paying 1,000 credits.
Heat building beyond critical levels while I wait and wait and wait and wait and take more damage and more damage and more damage trying to low-wake away from a star, because I beat an interdiction but was ejected too close to the star, and I can't even deploy a heat sink while my ship's systems fry because all controls are disabled during the blue-tunnel loading screen that takes 2.5 minutes.
Orbital Cruise that takes 6 minutes to begin.
Gilde that takes 8 minutes to begin.
Fines and Bounties I didn't have before I logged off in systems I've never visited.

These sorts of things break the game. Somebody bailing out of combat - it's annoying, but that's about all it is.

Unless you're from that side of the pond, with a dog in this fight, then it's the end of the world. Everything else could fail as long as you can kill that 3-hour old player in a stock sidewider with a 2000 hour Corvette.

Wanting to impact the galaxy with no fear of repercussion in a game that has the word "dangerous" in the title is pretty cowardly.

Its called Elite Dangerous no Elite Murderous.

Also games like Call of Duty dont require that you are currently a member of a military to play. You are not required to fight while in the battlefield while playing Battlefield. So having a specific word in the title does not mean that you are required to be in that state at all times. Its silly to think so.

You are calling 90% of the current griefing community cowards as well. They wont dare play in open when it comes to trading or making enough money for insurance.

I mean sure the griefing community are cowards. Everyone knows that. Otherwise they would be interdiction Combat corvettes and FDLs exclusively.

So until everyone stops being gunshy because of said community, then combat logging will not stop and it will not be punished.

"Combat corvette"

lol

Because the Corvette is worthy of PvP combat even when it's engineered.

I am not a member of said griefing community, nor do I condone their actions, however I would argue that they're a lot braver than the majority of people who've taken one glance at this forum and decided open isn't for them because they're too scared to lose their ships.

2+ years in open and I've never been the victim of a griefer.

I wonder what would happen if some players encountered real PVP. None of this space pixel nonsense, but a real PVP battle where you're not only fighting to save your ship, your cargo, or your K2D ratio - but you're aiming to not be the one having to go to Argos / Best Buy in the morning to buy a new router :D

Cowardly....Scared....LOL , you pew pew boys make me laugh ( no really) , I play MY game how I like to play it , I don't care how you play yours , I don't do pvp so just go about shooting eachother while leaving me alone please =-)

Yeah sure, you're the man, you are the big man, because, you know, obviously playing spaceships how folk prefer defines whether they are a coward or not, Jesus.

I've lost plenty of ships ing around in group solo. I've lost some to PvP in Open.

Plenty of insurance. Not at all afraid to lose a ship.

Perhaps I just don't always want to deal with your     ?

Well Mr Stardust. What's wrong?
Please help me doctor, I have an irrational fear of pillocks.
Irrational fear? Surely you mean "aversion"
No Doctor, fear. I frequent this forum you see and that one guy was adamant.
Staaaaaand and delivuhr!!! Owieowieowie.
Doctor!
Sorry, couldn't help myself. You should know, you made me up.
Good point. So what do I do?
Have you tried parody?
How do I parody that?
Quite right ... have you tried ridicule?
Of course, why didn't I think of that?
Well, you did really.
Shhhh.

I didn't call anyone a coward! I simply replied saying that I could easily see how someone would call certain actions within this game cowardly.

Good thing you got the number to a great eye doctor out in Arizona :)

Wow, that is the miracle of the century, a bold face lie, or sneaky way to try and push an agenda without outright saying it.

Pretty sure its a combination of the two of those 3 choices.

2 years and you never once got killed by a player character in an ship that outclassed you? Or perhaps you have been here since launch and like so many of the other people who are rich beyond compare took advantage of the early exploits and have been a multi billionaire for the last 1.5 years. So they have always had the biggest best ships and never had to worry.

Either way your over exaggerated experience only represents your point of view and it defiantly does not represent that of the majority of the player base. You can tell that because they were forced into solo and private. That is a game design issue and is on the heads of FDEV for allowing such toxic gameplay.

Its that or you are the best fighter pilot flying trade ships from all of history and into the future. I highly doubt it though.
