Satisfactory: Factory Building Sandbox

He's a riot. 😁 I've watched his Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo vids and I can say that i've never laughed so hard at a video!!

I find such vids demoralising. Once I build big factory in Factorio and was bit proud. Had even double belts. I swaggered to Youtube and wtches KoS video on Factorio. It shattered me and humbled me.
It's good game though, Satisfactory. No game ties building and exploration like it.

Not played this for over a year - probably need to go back to it. Notice there's been quite a few updates lately.

Same - it is still the same game but a couple tweaks were done to production. Northern Forest was massively overhauled. But you know, once you were there and know the area is not much different. Looks good though.
You will maybe rejoice at the noclip changes. Most stuff you can now just clip through anything. Not machinery tho. Caves are said to have had update but not finished that work. Dune Des and N. Forest is complete as I understood.
Trying to make oil work, never got that far. Then maybe trains. Then scrap all the stuff and build something nice. Maybe. Oh, and you can "zoop" builds now. 10 inna row. Big relief.

Again, I don't know any game that ties survival and builder and exploration together like Satisfactory. The map is had-crafted and beatiful, the builder complex enough and the world gives you logistics problems. The enemies are rather limp mostly but they roam the key locations and you cannot lostomp through them so easily nor disregard them. They are probably the weakest part - especially the spawning is very corny.

But the hiker and explorer just gets rewarded by finding a path up that cliff and maybe even getting some goodies. Late game this is mostly trivial, but early game you face near impossible obstacles. Tho you can brute force with the builder tools. But that looks shmite and costs precious resources, which are not too abundant early game.
Actually you're limitless. All you need is time. Energy is the main throttle for scaling up productions.

But damn the perspective really transformed the builder game. 2D is the usual stuff. 1st person is rare. And 1st person in beautiful world is basically unique in the genre.

I plonked down first oil rig and refinery. Plastic and rubber are easily to come by for first milestones. I'm on my last Tier of space elevator tech, I think.
Plopped down a dedicated line for coppa sheet. It is bloody patchwork out there and steel. OMG, steel is always too few. Worse than screws, because of the coal availability.
I'm probably switching to fuel for energy generation soon - the coal is just too precious for steel. I have too more deposits to integrate but that means a lot of energy consumption too and coal just isn't enough in foreseeable future.

I have had a look at the recipes and it's not so funny. Electronics will need some major investments in noodles and ressources. So far I made the basic mats off-site mostly. But for electronics I need stuff from far away several places. I shall push for oil fuels - only 100 computers to craft - the circuit boards are almost done.
Tier unlock is done 1/3 on paper but I havent yet figured the new advanced items to deliver - they require manufacs and 4 ingredients I think. Maybe I will consolidate Screws off site too - or maybe just give up with the noodles, lol.

Drones are invaluable for late stage manufacturing if you don't want to transport bulk materials to a central hub, it takes a little effort to get battery supply lines up and running but once you do they can make life so much easier, not sure you have them unlocked at that point though, I can't remember where they are in the tech trees.

No not there yet. This is farthest pt so far. Not caring too much about style and just plonking down brute force production. Some with container feeding even to get job done. Made a crude screw line for manufac and produced the first ever computers. Also first ever hypertube line. I was more on explore before.

All tiers are unlocked - but not all parts therein. If that makes sense. Nuclear production and the stuff in tier 8 is largely untouched. I set up crude aluminum processing, two train lines and checked for more hard drives. Did some ficsmas stuff in between.
I had begun hand feeding a couple of lines because I wouldn't bother with the spaghetti. I cut back on that because it was becoming too much and added more noodle to it all. Also set up a little component line for electronics like high speed connectors and AI limiters. A massive demand of quickwire there.

I have plans for more oil facilities - gonna streamline the fuel production - probably with packaging / unpackaging diluted fuel.

I'm in the middle of setting up a nuclear waste processing line to allow me to sink the waste instead of leaving vast stores of radioactive waste laying around, once that is done I'll add some more reactors and start rebuilding all my main factories to run off of maxed out miners.

I got the gear for uranium but no use yet. I think I spotted a ueanium node - in the long cave going from N down to Geassland.
Not sure where I's place a reworked "nice" factory. The Noth Forest?
Rocky Desert I dont know well and didnt connect so well with.

I had a playthrough once in the Northern Forest at the Pure iron nodes. Is purium galore there. Back then I wondered Building over the chasm. Maybe I should do just that.
