Notice Scan data bug fixed

Yeah, we understand completely that it is an inconvenience and if there is a loss of data then we know this would be deeply upsetting. Rest assured that if this is the case we will be working with affected Commanders. However, we still need to investigate the issue before we can give you more detail. We are making sure that everyone is as aware as possible to postpone their exploration as a precaution and we will update the main thread as soon as we know more.

I returned to Sol from a trip to Sag A* on Wednesday and sold my data at Mars High/Sol. Would this be the reason why I only earned about half of what I was expecting from the sold data?

I got 2 theories:

1. I call it the "1.4 CloseQarterCombatExploitExplorationConspiration" by Frontier. Herd up all the explorer for CQC...

2. Google-maps hacked the database. The world is not enough...

Was about to set out. I guess I'm still in a better situation than folks on the other side of the galaxy at the moment, so I won't complain too much. Fingers crossed it gets fixed soon. For all explorers who have data on the line, I really hope you get it all back.

Oh, we're going to get something.....

*glances in Zac's direction as he lays out some forceps, a pair of safety fingernail clippers, a cheap vinyl broomstick, a magic marker, a tub of semi-rancid butter, two tow straps, a handheld fan powered by AA batteries, a box of pickled seaweed and a huge bag of rubber bands on a purple blanket*

We'll get something for our time.....

omg sooooo nasty!

Purple, really? Heathen!

Well, this is certainly dumb. Just a couple days ago I started playing again and slowly edged my way closer to the edge of the galaxy. Now I have to stop. Makes me wish Frontier and Elite: Dangerous could have existed back when I was in school. My parents would have loved a video game forcing me to stop playing it!

You forgot the Vaseline...

Thanks for the update - I had just bought an Asp. I suppose I will just have to do some more HazRes farming until it is sorted. ;)

Oh, and good job on putting this on the launcher. Props to whoever suggested that earlier in the thread.

Good thing I don't scan much. :)
As long as I don't have to repeat the estimated 150 jumps since the update I am even willing to lose that ELW I scanned two days ago.

But I do hope I can continue on the long road home by the time I get home tonight, because otherwise I'd be forced to pay FD a visit and install Plan 9 on all their servers. ;-)

Deep-space exploration takes very long time and during that time you can't do any other activities, like trading or hunting. Which means, if you lose your data, you probably lose months of your play time. I have persosally been "out there" since 7 June and have (had :( ) about 2300 system scans on-board, most of which were first scans. And it's also true that a significant part of exploration is a thrill to put your name on it - taking this away hurts a bit.

So whats that got to do with jumping to conclusions,
You may mis-understood what I was trying to convey, It may not be a bad outcome for us It may be a positive one albeit financial.
I also have pending systems & planetary bodies waiting for my name to be listed next them  (if I get back first ) of which some are earth like. And understand I may loose that  but hey its a game so I will go out and play more.:p

at least this matches somehow my experience(s). i docked in jaques statio before the 1.4. update and sold exploration data (no problem). i crossed the bubble to start a new trip on the 6th, and sold data again on the last station of the bubble (worked). i experienced the first problems on the 7th (e.g. bodies not shown in the system map after logging in; black bodies etc.). e.g.: transistion from 1.3. to 1.4. worked, the problem started after that.

No it didn't...I parked up on the 5th, didn't play....then after the update on the 6th noticed straight away that the system i was in wasn't showing as scanned....i went to the Galaxy Map & noticed that 5 systems (4 WDs & 1 NS) which i had explored two days earlier were unexplored again. I then traced it back 475LYs of system data lost (3rd & 4th Oct).
Iv not scanned since & not moved from my Monday park up.

Before there was any inkling of a problem with exploration, I scanned upwards of ten systems in a session last night and also sold most of that data at a couple of stations. Those sales appeared to go through just fine, but now I am wondering what I might find with my commander when next I log in as him. Will I be unaffected? Or will I have lost that money and that data? Or something worse? So I hope we at least get more details on the problem soon.

Oh my, that's no good.

As soon as 1.4 dropped, I made a fast track back to the Empire, only scanning a few water worlds I encountered on the way. I've sold the data off already and that all seemed to work just fine. If I'm understanding this issue correctly, is it possible that some data was missing when I did my mass sell off? I was a little disappointing my rank didn't go up more but I just put that to having a fairly unlucky trip (not even one ELW).

What is the potential fallout for this scenario? Will I see some systems show up that I need to sell because they weren't in the list before? Or did I beat the issues of the upgrade by running home?

I know it is still early, these are just the questions bouncing around in my head.

Good luck!

Aw man, and I just started heading towardst he core yesterday, I'm light years away from civilization now. Just my luck. Thanks for letting us know though, hopefully fixed soon with little loss

Great.

How do I postpone my exploration activity?

I'm currently 15k light years away from human space, and it's taken me every night this week to get there. I also found a nice little system with an Earth-like planet etc.

Boooooooo.
