Notice Scan data bug fixed

This is odd as the systems I was back tracking through last night were showing as scanned when I jumped back into them?

Hey guys,

Some of you may know that recently we upgraded the servers that host the exploration data.

Unfortunately we've identified some issues as part of this upgrade and we are advising that everyone stop exploring until we confirm it's safe to continue doing so.

We will be keeping players informed on this thread as we get more news.

I'm very sorry for the confusion caused.

Thanks,

Zac
I am at the core pls don't tell me the last 50+ (at least) hours of gameplay has been for nothing. I'll cry.

Looks like I returned from my trip yesterday just in time. :)

I also returned last night just before midnight and sold my Sag A return trip data without issues. Sorry to hear for all those of you still out in the black! This will really cripple the activity of anyone who is out exploring, as apart from CQC (which some of us really aren't interested in), they might as well log off and play some other game.

I hope this is a speedy fix!

I'm guessing you don't know much about development...
Correct, I know nothing about software development. However, as an informatician I would be strung up I released something to a 'live' community without going through rigorous testing and checking, then getting a small group of users to test and report back any issues. THEN the project can go live....

Ok, if exploration is broken that badly - do you think would support be amenable to transporting my ship back to civilisation as I am many many thousands of LY away with nothing to do *but* explore (not interested in cqc). Even the trip back would be a lot of system scans gone to waste :(

Luckily, I'm still fitting out my DBE for exploration, so funding is delaying my trip out to Sag A*. Hope it's fixed by the time I get my fuel scoop and auto maintenance thingy.

We may all lose some data but with voices crying out from all across the galaxy, exploration is finally on FD's front burner. I just hope some sort of improvements come from all this mess.

Can't speak for anyone else but a few more stats and some illegal salvage to scoop just is not enough attention to (imo) the very best part of the game.

I read some of the posts here and had to register to share this, as not all the data you have scanned will have been saved the last 48 hrs (unless the server was backed up). If the game crashes or you save and quit, you lose the data for some systems - but not all - even complete system scans. It may show you have visited the system but the full scans would have vanished. My only work around is to jump and scan only, then write the system name down if it of interest. This is on a forward trip, so when I return, I'll have to hop and skip back to the systems I wrote down - lucky I've been keeping a record of all my pop/earth/amon/water systems. Then noticed this issue after loading back up the next day - so now I'm writing everything down.

Just a tip, still search but wait before wasting time on full scans :D

a word from the wise to the devs - this notice should be on the main launcher as I had to come looking for answers, and as said above, not everyone comes here and loosing a few days worth of data is somewhat heart breaking :( anyho

peace

Just sit it out.....i can't stand pewpew, so CQC is out....i'm 7k LYs from civvy space & iv not moved or scanned since Monday.
I was only irritated these last couple of days because of the lack of info being put to us Explorer's from FD.....thankfully, we seem now to be getting that information, so i await

It is on the main launcher, and has been for at least a couple of hours.

I agree, personally I've travelled anywhere between 3-7 thousand LYs since the 3rd, I do however have full confidence in Zak and the team. If we lose data I am sure they'll compensate us when they can.

My main reason for not moving since Monday, was that i knew i had 475LYs of missing scanned data & would IF needed go back & re-scan, as these were all WDs & NSs

Deep-space exploration takes very long time and during that time you can't do any other activities, like trading or hunting. Which means, if you lose your data, you probably lose months of your play time. I have persosally been "out there" since 7 June and have (had :( ) about 2300 system scans on-board, most of which were first scans. And it's also true that a significant part of exploration is a thrill to put your name on it - taking this away hurts a bit.

It's a good point. If it were a trading or combat bug you could try something else, but with exploration... that's pretty much it.

Maybe it's all a cynical ploy to push explorers into CQC? ;)
