Notice Scan data bug fixed

In March, I was out for a month and made a rookie mistake and lost all my data (1st expedition).
I didn't play the game for a week and then at the beginning of April, I decided to try and get to the core.

I made it and have been heading back ever since. Due to my limited playtime, I have been out for six months and am looking forward to getting back to civilisation.

I will be most upset if all my data is lost :-(

This is making me very nervous, as I'd finally reached Sagittarius A yesterday, then worked my way out of the core last night..

good news is, I took some sweet selfies!

yeah I've been out here for 2 weeks haven't Sold any of my data so Im assuming my 2weeks of work are literally wasted .....I'm INCREDIBLY ANNOYED

An update as to what the exact problems are would actually be nice.

But what if they don't know what they are exactly

These words, sung by Jerry in Alice in Chains, does come to mind:

Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep and dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me

And that about serves as a TL;DR for most of these comments in this thread.

Boo Jerry, the evil witch that he is :D Didn't even realise he sung it, been so long since I saw the unplugged, seems more than fitting enough for Layne

The most important thing right now is not to panic. Once we have some more information we can share it with you. If any Commanders are affected we will be working to support them.

Thanks,

Zac

I heard Peter Jones when I read that.
Subtle if intended, but if not I liked it anyway.
I'm sure FD will be more than happy to 'compensate' any exploration losses, and if they can, (re)instate any first discoveries affected.
Might be the last nudge I need to get me hard hat on with my python and go prospecting tonight.
Fly safe everyone (though not too far for now!)

Ps I know it is frustrating to (potentially) lose your efforts but please don't think of it as time wasted. I bet you enjoyed doing it all the same. My wife hates this game cos I'm never off it!

Question:
- After the 1.4 update, is the cursor sticks in the middle of the screen, at anyone except me (PC)? Fixing if minimize the window and expand again (for time).
- Is it possible to change the height of the radar relative to the surface of the dashboard? After the update, the radar is slightly higher than it ought to be. At the ship "Anaconda". Hmm, need to check the other ships as soon as I can gather them in one place.
Request:
- Dear FD, please, make small changes to the ring of FSD funnel behind the ship, very much not realistic looks a bright blue ring with smooth edges, on the background of the cosmos. Outside the ship, look back after activating the FSD.
- New sound, when the ship is moving in the hangar - very nice. However, after a few minutes of silence in the hangar (trade, GalNet, bulletin board, etc.), the sound of the opening hangar "gate" (lowering of the landing zone) is very sharp. Leave it as is, but try adding a short very quieter sound, for a bit before the main sound track will start.

Had this happen once recently and pressed the "Windows" key and clicked on the screen to fix the issue... might work for you too...

got back to civilisation last night but did not have time to download all my data. is it ok to download exploration data or is that on hold as well

If it helps the DEVs, I have been offline from ED for a couple of weeks and have a little bit of HONKING stored up. I have downloaded the last launcher but have not installed it yet. I think my setup is pre . I can wait this out or be a Guinea Pig if you want.

Zac, the lack of further news on this is deafening.

When can we expect something...folks are starting to lose what few marbles they have left!

To try to put some minds at rest, I have checked back on some of the systems I have scanned in the last few weeks and I can see them as fully explored. Hopefully that means that all of the pre-patch data will be fine. Fingers crossed.

this is correct - all my systems since before the patch have been ok about the last 48 hrs have been effect as far as I can tell from my notes

no need to panic

If you mean selling data at Universal Cartographics then you should hold off on doing that until further notice.

So what you're saying is my 2 weeks of exploration and ANYTHING I've done in that time BEFORE and SINCE 1.4 is pointless ?
....I may as well go back home ask quickly as possible because I've Literally wasted my time being out here for 2 weeks

None of the systems I've first discovered, none of the systems I've scanned mean diddly-squat ?

I only noticed when I logged off to go do something else to come back and finish scanning a system and realised ALL of the planets and stars I have scanned prior to loggin off are unexplored in the system. So what Im reading and TERRIFIED of is the many MANY systems I've painstakingly scanned. are gone ........

ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?

YOU BETTER BLOODY FIX THIS I didn't pay 60 dollars for a broken game Literally wasted 2weeks of my time

I don't know, people might think you are living in Syria with Isis beheading your family or something.

It's a bloody game, they will fix it (most likely high priority and at least they told you so you know) and follow their instructions, in the mean time chill the hell out it's not the end of the bloody world.

Seriously... You are acting like a three year old throwing teddies out the pram...

Same here, CMDR. 4 months out. On the last 12,000LY leg of the return trip. Looks like everything before 1.4 *should* be ok. A few days of intermittent/lost data collection since. I think we'll be ok, but all of this is speculation. From all of us.

We need to give Frontier time to evaluate and work the problem. I have confidence. They haven't let me down before and I don't think they're about to now.

Having buckyballed my way to Sag A* (and taking a highly enjoyable month long jaunt home home via the neutron fields), I am hovering outside the bubble waiting to see if an exploration cg popped this week. Alas, no such luck and I'm stuck holding all this data itching to get back into the thick of things.

Hey Zac, any chance UC might offer a cg to tidy up their databases once this all shakes out, as a little thank you to the patiently parked commanders out there?
