Notice Scan data bug fixed

The launcher message is the only reason I found about this. I hope this will be fixed ASAP of course, but most importantly I want to thank FD for the warning in the launcher. This is a very efficient way to communicate.

Communication from FD has evolved a great deal since Beta when they just didn't have the staff.. it was Beta... It is a bit frustrating for those of us who are too far into the black to do anything but wait, more so for me as I was out of the game for a few months for various reasons and then had to wait for my new pc build because of Skylake/Asus motherboard issues which meant that I got my lovely ED machine 2 days before I went on holiday and then when finally I managed to allocate a few days to play the game.. but hey, first world issues and all...

I would be very surprised if FD didn't have an extremely efficient backup system, the consequences of not having one would potentially cost them millions, so I am sure long term data is intact.

In the meantime I will roleplay that CQC is a computer game I have onboard my ASP :)

Might be a good time to actually get to grips with flying FA off.

FDev, what sets your game apart is the realistically scaled galaxy; exploration is an important part of the game, even if the combat only crowd may represent a larger part of the population. The fact is the pew pew crowd can get their fix elsewhere easily and probably will after a while; you probably want to hang on to the explorers who like Elite for more than it's combat system.

*Next time an issue like this happens, it'd be nice if it was given some serious attention when it happens and not a week later.

*We have people stuck out there and unable to play the main game; those that are fine with killing that time in CQC can still have some fun, but those that don't care for it are literally unable to play and have been for a week. Like I said, I usually take FD's side but they seriously dropped the ball here. But hey, everyone makes mistakes, I just hope they take this one as a learning experience and take issues like this more seriously in the future.

This is the whole point here, there is probably a much bigger percentage than we all think, of players on here that are here, were drawn here, for the reason that ED has the 200Billion system Galaxy for us to free roam and explore at will, Pew pew is everywhere, in many varied genre`s, this Galaxy is not,,, we deserve a bit more consideration, on every level here, way way way, way more !!!!

Negative posts like this aren't necessary.

CQC is available from anywhere if you're too far from civilization. If you're like me you're crossing half the galaxy and don't mind writing off systems on the way because they're just a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of the haul. But to say they're telling you to completely stop playing the game is disingenuous.

game Literally wasted 2weeks of my time

Perfectly understand how you feel. Twice, I lost my ship, not being able to buy it back, and started from the very beginning. The first time I spent 3 weeks to get the ship, at second time only 2 weeks.
In your case, this is not your fault, but FD did not have to return anything, even.
The game is currently not yet in final form and will change again and again, to become better and more interesting, not just for you, but for all CMDRs.
There is no one's fault, just bad luck.
Fly safe. Be strong.

Yesterday I already noticed weired behaviour. I left the game with all planets scanned of the system, and when I returned to ED I had to rescan the system because none of the planets were displayed and additionally to that, those which I already scanned in detail were once again Unexplored.

Good to know Frontier is aware of the problems. Sad that apparently the code is very unstable and/or complex that with every patch a total desaster can be expected. :p

Am just joining this thread now on the 26th page - so is there any news? Is all exploration data lost?

Should I not even log on? (I'm a few thousand LY away from anywhere)

I don't enjoy CS:Space. I want nothing to do with it. If they released a message saying "Stop using your weapons until we figure this out" Would you consider the game on hold?

>.< damn.

I am 20k out in the neutron fields, scanning my way in small hops towards 25k out and then a beeline for Sag A. I was really putting in a spurt in terms of the hours logged exploring too, because I wanted to get back into the bubble and properly enjoy 1.4, ah well.

I don't care about the financial cost but i will be really annoyed if all that work towards exploration ranking is lost.

This is true only if one is interested in CQC.
Regardless, negative posts aren't necessary at all. Especially as the doom and gloom scenarios are guesswork at this point since we don't know for sure. - With any luck they'll be able to bring it all back into service with nothing lost.

I been stuck in starport since the 1.4 patch , there's no gameplay ,due to bugs , and i am sick of waiting for a hotfix
I had plans to play this weekend , but looking at how things go , i doubt i will even play this month because they without doubt will not hotfix anything for a while

Omg! You might actually have to........ dum dum daaaaahhhh ... go outside

I hope they stick around and fix it. I have confidence they won't leave something that cripples exploration until Monday.

They've been known to ignore office hours before around game launch times and during the development of the game. The pizzaolis didnt come out of nowhere after all - it was from pizzas delivered to them ( via lave radio iirc? )

I have seen plenty of people openly state that they have no interest in CQC. Their reasons are their own, it's up to everyone to play how they want. However it's a fact these people represent a portion of the player base, and since they've been advised by FD to stop using the part of the game they do want to play, and a lot of them being really far from the bubble as well, FD have effectively advised them to stop playing until this issue is resolved. You can't force someone to like CQC. And for the record, I'm fine with CQC and have had some fun in it myself - but there are people who dislike it and the period of them not being able to play has been prolonged by a late FD response. Now, perhaps FD had no way to diagnose this until the server update completed; but it seems likely to me they just thought it'd go away with the update being complete and them really starting to look into it when it didn't. Meanwhile people are stuck twiddiling their thumbs tens of thousands of ly away.

I've tried to stay positive; like I said, everyone makes mistakes but devs do drop the ball sometimes; hi-fiving them when they do just communicates it's fine to do so. It's not. And I say that while having the greatest respect for FD and a lot of love for ED. But the ball has been dropped here, and it'd sure be nice if it didn't happen again. Server hiccups happen, there's no way to avoid that in the long term; what they can do is make sure they address each issue as quickly and effectively as possible.

Or we can say "no big deal FD, we'll just do something else while you get around to it". Which would be fine if ED was a free game done by a volunteer mod team. It's not, it's a business.

No, there seems to be issues with scanned data from 03/10-05/10 - systems explored are still showing as unexplored - this effects me.

Some others report that systems scanned after the 1.4 update show as unexplored when you've logged out then back in - can't confirm as iv been parked since Monday until it gets sorted.

Wow just wow. Well put and repped!
I did try cqc its not so bad, not my thing but not bad

Yea I was surprised at how enjoyable I've found some of the CQC matches I was in. Winning the first one sure felt great. Ultimately however this little slugfest probably doesn't have the staying power to keep me interested for a long time; novelty wears off. While it'll sure be nice to be able to hop into some action while out there exploring to break it up a bit, I doubt I'll play it quite as much as I do now once the novelty has worn off and I have a ranking in it that doesn't look too pathetic when I check my right hand panel :) I just wish it wasn't written in red. Red looks like a warning, like something is wrong. It's totally off putting. They should have gone with a different color imo. But that's a discussion for another thread, so I'll stop going ot here :)
