Notice Scan data bug fixed

I'm too busy replaying the Horizons sneak peek over and over again to worry about my exploration data. Admittedly I don't have very much exploration data from the past week to worry about. Are planets that we 'first' discovered weeks ago still recorded? I can't remember where I've been.

but it seems likely to me they just thought it'd go away with the update being complete and them really starting to look into it when it didn't.

Pure speculation on your part. You have no clue what is going on behind the scenes at FD. None.

Server hiccups happen, there's no way to avoid that in the long term; what they can do is make sure they address each issue as quickly and effectively as possible.

You have no idea what the issue is they are facing, what the cause is or how the have to approach it to create a resolution. All your statement smacks of is "They're not doing it quick enough for our liking." and that is just ridiculous. Without knowing the exact issue you cannot claim they are taking too long over it. You are being completely disingenuous. They are telling us what they can, when they can whilst giving advice to players effected. What else do you expect them to do? And don't come back with "fix it faster." because YOU have no clue what the problem is.

I get people are annoyed at the inconvenience, but for the sake of your own sanity remember, it's a game. It's not the end of the world. It's not real credits, it's not "work" you've put in, it's play. Get some perspective and let the real developers get on with identifying the problem and fixing it. You can always go and play something else.

just risked a log in and had a quick check of my data. the scans I made over the past week still show as being discovered in the galaxy map, but the system maps seem to be bugging out and missing the odd planets ( or all of them ) along with a lot of the detailed scans not showing.

the scans I made before this week still look intact though. glad I've been making notes of my visitations, it may help if the worst happens.

looks like i'll have to fill last place in the CQC results for a while...

Negative posts like this aren't necessary.

CQC is available from anywhere if you're too far from civilization. If you're like me you're crossing half the galaxy and don't mind writing off systems on the way because they're just a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of the haul. But to say they're telling you to completely stop playing the game is disingenuous.

Yes they are, fact is, i didn`t explore from 26sept to 7oct, so the thing is my friend, my loss, if any when this pans out, will be minimal, not the point here, i`m not annoyed about data loss here, i`m not annoyed full stop, but i fully understand why a lot of players are.
We get enough lack of consideration for the exploration side of things here on every level as it is, and i haven`t seen anyone on here saying that they completely can`t play the game, what they are saying, and can`t do, is come on here for the reason they brought the game for,,,,
Hey not all bad though, in the Exploration community request list thread, i, amongst a few others asked if i could have a simple LY Odometer fitted to my Conda, as with most things, big or small, if you don`t ask, you don`t get ;-)

I don't enjoy CS:Space. I want nothing to do with it. If they released a message saying "Stop using your weapons until we figure this out" Would you consider the game on hold?

You're throwing a tantrum over an issue they said they are now aware of and attempting to fix. I'm not saying this to insult you, I'm being blunt so you reevaluate how you express annoyance to human beings who are actively trying to make it work out for you.

All in all, ease up.

No, there seems to be issues with scanned data from 03/10-05/10 - systems explored are still showing as unexplored - this effects me.

Some others report that systems scanned after the 1.4 update show as unexplored when you've logged out then back in - can't confirm as iv been parked since Monday until it gets sorted.

All data from March 10 to May 10?

J/K, couldn't resist.

This is bad news especially since I do not like CQC at all. But I do understand that sometimes Murphy is involved. Hopefully the smart guys can fix it.

Or we can say "no big deal FD, we'll just do something else while you get around to it". Which would be fine if ED was a free game done by a volunteer mod team. It's not, it's a business.

That would be justified if ED was a monthly subscription based game, such as EVE Online. Hell, yeah, hurry up and fix it or reimburse me with extra game time or something, because time is ticking and I'm losing days of my subscription. ED is different. You buy it once and play as much as you want. GTA, Tomb Raider, COD, BF, StarCraft, Fable, and the endless list of "buy once, play forever" games goes on and on and on. Other games had bugs. Other games still have bugs. The developers are fixing those, sooner or later, and then you can play the game without losing any money due to subscription (since there is none).

Yes, this is annoying as well as concerning to explorers, but don't tell me Elite is the only game anyone here plays. Or that you are a hero, who works overtime on every single occasion there is an issue at work and you are about to clock out and go home.

Step into the shoes of the developers for a moment and imagine you have a customer with a problem that can't be resolved in a few minutes. The weekend is approaching to spend time with your family and kids. Then you check the forums and see someone wrote a post like you just did. What would you think?

Hey guys,

Some of you may know that recently we upgraded the servers that host the exploration data.

Unfortunately we've identified some issues as part of this upgrade and we are advising that everyone stop exploring until we confirm it's safe to continue doing so.

We will be keeping players informed on this thread as we get more news.

I'm very sorry for the confusion caused.

Update:

Thank you all for your patience during today. As many of you have suggested the issue is still under investigation this weekend.

There has been a small change added which means that when a scan has failed, the user is notified. However, this is not 100% guaranteed and we would still strongly advise that if you are able to, to avoid exploring and scanning until the issues has been resolved.

The development team are going to be working through the weekend to try and resolve this issue.

Keep an eye on the first post of this thread for further updates.

We understand the frustration this will cause and we'd like to thank you all for your patience while we continue to resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Zac

Cheers Zak keep up the good work.

I do not want CQC, I have never loved and I still love him ... my game is a beautiful galaxy travel ... respect for they like, but it is not my case.

That will give solution is, but I feel that lately have forgotten the astronomical part to focus on policies and battles and I am disappointed.

Again I ask support to this thread

If you are an explorer, you must support it.

A greeting.

And I was as well, thanks for the warning, particularly the in-launcher warning.
