Notice Scan data bug fixed

I'm not sure to continue my exploration now, I am 3.000 ly from Sgr A* :(
Now for a week or two I go to ... simracing ... and forget E:D for a while.

New scans are being saved on log-out and log-in. I've no idea whether previous scans in recent days are still saved. I don't think there's anyway in-game to check how many systems I've scanned, and I don't keep a side record of visited systems to be able to recheck the GalMap. I'm going to assume most of the data is there. I probably scan 5-10 systems a day on my trip, so might have lost some, but impossible to tell, or to even backtrack and rescan (and as the point of my journey is to visit new sights, with the scans a byproduct, I'm not going to turn around at this point).

Nav panel is a little glitchy, system map is very slow to display when there are a lot of astro-bodies, and occasionally I'm stuck in witch space for a long time during jumps, but otherwise it's saving everything discovered. Going back to grab the ELW systems that show unscanned has proven benificial, I found 2 more undiscovered ELW systems.
too cool man!

Yeah, I'm going to back track a couple of klys to rescan the ELWs that I can no longer see, just in case (not that my faith in the exploration data has been shaken, oh no...).

Still going to give it a few days and see if anything gets restored before I play any more though. If I was going to just plough on then I might but I want to be able to see the earth likes at least, and the furthest missing one is only 1,876ly away. Still, the couple of bodies I scanned last night are still scanned this morning so it's promising at least.

Anybody else noticed in 1.4 that when you jump into a system that you don't get the body zone rungs until after you scan?

For example used to jump into an ns system and you got the yellow zone ring so you could line up and target straight away.

It's very unnenerving jumping into a ns system with a blank screen till after you scan.

Came close to accidentally cruising into one because I can't see its zone ring.

Also an issue when scooping.

Firstly, thanks to all at FDev who worked on Saturday to find out what happened.

I'm with Alex in wanting to know what to do with data scanned since the problem started that I have yet to sell.

I would like to know what the specific impact is that I should expect for data that has not yet been sold...

Should I hang on to the data for the time being, or is it safe to sell?

As an aside, when I've had a major upset with any game, my coping mechanism is to go away and play something else for a while, until I've vaguely forgotten what I lost, and pick the game back up, after the break.

Good going Frontier. Certainly caused a fair amount of anxiety among players, but looks like it should be Ok now and with a bit more time the gaps will get plugged. Plugging the problem sounds like the relatively easy bit. I hate to think how complex the re-integration of a lot of out of synch backup logs might be.

Confirmed. I filed a bug report on this.

It's adding 10-15 seconds to each system for me. Enter, honk, scan, check map, plot course, jump used to take ~45-55 seconds and is now taking 60-75 seconds. Booo.

grnbrg.

Pre-1.4 I did not get that ring unless I had a multi system course plotted. 1 by 1 jumps have never shown that ring (for me anyways).
1000+ NS scans plotted one at a time.

Still less than enthusiastic over the way FD have handled this, even after they decided to act. Why no simple statement about what is at risk? Are people still getting those corrupted source messages?

I have just checked my state - I do keep detailed records. Looks like between the database back up pre 1.4 and 1.4 dropping, I had scanned 85 systems that are no longer scanned by me. I make that around 4M in currently scanning (assuming I get first found for them all - none were tagged), and thus 4% towards Elite. Goodies included 2 E-Ls, 13 WWs, 1 AW, 1 BH, 9 Neutron Stars, 9 White Dwarfs, 3 W-Rs and 1 Herbig. The AW and 3 of the WWs were in the system I jumped from into the system that I stopped at, so I have gone back and scanned those. I have no intention of backtracking over the other 84 systems.

I guess I will sit and wait to see if that data can be discovered. If the bug was a 1.4 bug, then there is no reason to suppose the scanning on 1.3 after the database backup was faulty, so those records should exist, and they should be able to rescue them..

EDIT: Cleared: First Screenshot was taken in Beta, second in official Release, so there is no error anymore

I have just found this. A First Discovered Tag changed in the time between 19th of September and today?

A script to restore missing data during and after the upgrade has run overnight and most data has been restored. It's being run again to catch any that have been missed. We'll investigate missing data from before the upgrade over the next few days.

Data restore means only the ability to sell the collected data or also to appear again in the galaxy map?
