Notice Scan data bug fixed

A script to restore missing data during and after the upgrade has run overnight and most data has been restored. It's being run again to catch any that have been missed. We'll investigate missing data from before the upgrade over the next few days.

Michael

Hi, Michael!
Unfortunately I do not see any changes. More than 100 star systems explored by me (3, 4 and 5 October), has not recovered on the galaxy map.

Sadly I still have missing data from the period following the 1.4 update.

I only recorded the systems I visited on Thursday 8th (as by then we suspected a problem) and nearly all of them are incomplete. No way of knowing for sure how badly Tuesday and Wednesdays data have been affected.

Hi Michael, no change noticed here yet.

Here's an overview of 310 problem systems that I visited between October 3rd to October 8th.

3rd to 6th - all 275 systems showing as not visited
6th to 8th - 35 systems either not visited, visited not scanned, visited and scanned but corrupt (planets black or missing) or visited and scanned

10th - all systems show as being visited and scanned (OK)

Hope this helps

Uh-Oh.
Got my first hiccup. Suggestions? Re-tries give me the same thing.

I just did a spot-check of some of the most important systems I scanned during the affected timeframe. Every single one I checked still showed red in the galmap, as if I had never been there.

We are over 24,000 LY from the bubble, and the affected period spans the worst possible days it could have impacted in terms of how much scanning we did. Those were the days we covered the last several kylie to SagA and comprehensively explored many of the systems surrounding it. Neither my GF nor I can afford to move our ships from where we are until we know whether we're going to have to backtrack in order to not lose data.

Guess we'll jump back into Minecraft for now.

I just cross-checked with my netlogs/Captain's Log add-on and can sadly there is no change in status quo. Tried to be as specific as can be and narrowing it down to:

- Last intact system from October 1st, 23:57:45
- First system that I explored that's not accessible by SysMap on October 3rd, 19:56:59
- Last system that I explored that's not accessible by SysMap on October 5th, 23:17:17
- Intact systems from October 6th, 22:16:59 till October 7th, 20:17:56
- Corrupted explored/scanned systems (showing unexplored again/celestials blackened out) from October 7th, 20:19:20 till October 8th, 00:27:58
- Stopped exploring

Fly safe!
Andrew

Yes, I'm sorry, but I am still missing more than 200 systems from Oct. 3 - Oct. 6, 2015. So the fix did not work for me.

@michael. I have the same problem as others: I am currently still exploring and when I look at the map at systems I have explored I still get 'System map unavailable (no system data)'....

I've been going back and re-scanning my missing systems (which were originally scanned after the problem developed), and I'm running into an occasional missing body similar to what's described in post #829 of this thread.

For example, I see this in the navigation panel:
HIP 15937
-HIP 15937 6
--HIP 15937 6 A
--HIP 15937 6 B
--HIP 15937 6 D

Note that HIP 15937 C is missing. It shows in the system map, but as an outlined black circle, and I seem to already know about it even though I had to re-discover/scan the rest of the system. I can target it via the system map and fly to it, but its still missing from the navigation panel (and which shows no target marker).

Hm, even though its already known and won't scan, it does seem to be missing some data, such as type:
HIP 15937 6 C
Anarchy
None
(is it rocky, ice, earth-like, what?) In the system map, it says its a rocky body, but this does not show on the HUD.

I noticed this in at least one other system I've recently visited as well (though I didn't check all these details at the time).

Just flew to the next system, HIP 15876, which has a secondary star, which shows up fine in the system map, and as already explored, (even though the primary wasn't), but its missing from the navigation panel.

Curious if this is a "per user" issue, or if HIP 15876 B and HIP 15937 6 C are missing for everyone? (if anyone is near by, or if someone has previously visited, and can see if their HIP 15937 6 C has turned into a black circle in the system view?)

edit: add HIP 15804 AB 3 B to the list.

Checking my Captains Log and searching through systems I have scanned, my corruption started on the 2nd Oct with mainly a Neutron Star that has an Earth-like and another sytem that has a blackhole. Other systems on the 2nd seem to be there but after that day, all systems are seen as unscanned.

I'll check next week to see if they have been recovered.

Is there any method or external programs to check where I've been? I don't keep any records or anything like that and spent around 4-5 hours a day exploring last week until I got the notice about stopping on Friday, I'm currently in a fairly dense area about 13k out so it's quite difficult for me to retrace my steps in the galaxy map, I found a couple of systems with the map available but everything was still unexplored, would like to check more places I've been in the last few days but it's like finding a needle in a haystack ;)

Yes, you can download Captain's Log. It will record system and timestamp plus you can manually fill in additional data like stars, celestials and personal notes.

Sadly there's no way for us to track our visited systems unless we log them ourselves.

Thanks for the replies, just tried EDDiscovery and it's showing a few systems that I visited yesterday when I checked to make sure everything was working OK plus a couple I've just scanned then the next entries are from June and was a trade route I was running at the time, since then I've been to Sag A and back, sold the data to buy a better ship for exploring then set out on my current journey, should be at least another 4,500 systems visited in that time which seems a bit strange seeing as though the log goes all the way back to November when I first started playing.

Look up "Captain's Log" in the Exploration subforum.
