Notice Scan data bug fixed

Re-check your missing data CMDR's. ... Looks like all is well again (at least for me) so I'm now happy to warm up the engines on my Asp and continue on my route :)

Good to hear some stuff is fixed, but the systems I scanned two days ago and handed in yesterday are still showing as "First Discovered by VALIDATING". Keeping fingers crossed.

Just an update with regards to my pre-1.4 missing exploration data. I didn't keep logs (but I am now) but took a few screenshots of interesting systems on the 4th & 5th of October (before the 1.4 update dropped on the 6th). It was these systems that were showing as unexplored by me even though i'd been there and had the screenshots to show it. It was a pleasant surprise to log in today and find that the 3 systems I had screens for (taken over roughly 2000LY of travel) now show as explored. So that's great news for me as it shows that the missing pre-1.4 exploration data has been restored (maybe only partially, I don't know). I only have a very small sample of 3 systems but all 3 previously unexplored systems are now showing correctly as explored by me. I hope this is also the case for other explorers too. Maybe someone who has a comprehensive exploration log could check their data to see if things have been restored for them too during this time.
Re-check your missing data CMDR's. Mine is now back. :D
I've just logged into the game to check on the half-dozen missing systems I'd made scribbled notes and screenshots for. I can now access the system map for these missing systems so I'm assuming the missing systems in between are now back. I've done random checks on my route and I now have white system map icons. Obviously because of lack of records for everything on my route I can't check everything but some random systems I've checked on my past route since this bug showed up are now accessible.

This encouraged me to check mine. Some are now correct, but most are still showing as unexplored. I have always been laid back about that data, since we know it was being captured on the old server running against 1.3, so there is no reason to doubt that it was correctly captured: what had to be done was copy it across from the old server to the new one. That was 'the expected issue'. I am more concerned about data since 1.4 dropped, since those were unexpected issues. I waited until FD declared it sorted out before I started exploring again, but still have some problems.

Improbability factor one-to-one; we have normality. Repeat, we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is, therefore, your own problem.

Just logged on to look for a star on the Galmap - only about the 3rd time I have logged onto my distant ship since all this began.

I was happy to see all scans as they should be from my previously lost data. :D :D :D

Time to put Prison Architect on the back burner, me-thinks. And I just received my first death-row prisoner!

Only problem: My usual gaming nights are booked! Friday: Leftfield gig. Saturday: Friend's fundraiser. :(

I've just checked a few and it looks like my scans from the 3rd - 5th have been restored. :)

But there are still some problems for systems I visited from 6th - 8th, with either missing or black bodies shown in the map. Luckily it wasn't many systems that I care about. I'm going to rescan a couple and then move on.

I have seen plenty of people openly state that they have no interest in CQC. Their reasons are their own, it's up to everyone to play how they want. However it's a fact these people represent a portion of the player base, and since they've been advised by FD to stop using the part of the game they do want to play, and a lot of them being really far from the bubble as well, FD have effectively advised them to stop playing until this issue is resolved. You can't force someone to like CQC. And for the record, I'm fine with CQC and have had some fun in it myself - but there are people who dislike it and the period of them not being able to play has been prolonged by a late FD response. Now, perhaps FD had no way to diagnose this until the server update completed; but it seems likely to me they just thought it'd go away with the update being complete and them really starting to look into it when it didn't. Meanwhile people are stuck twiddiling their thumbs tens of thousands of ly away.

I've tried to stay positive; like I said, everyone makes mistakes but devs do drop the ball sometimes; hi-fiving them when they do just communicates it's fine to do so. It's not. And I say that while having the greatest respect for FD and a lot of love for ED. But the ball has been dropped here, and it'd sure be nice if it didn't happen again. Server hiccups happen, there's no way to avoid that in the long term; what they can do is make sure they address each issue as quickly and effectively as possible.

Or we can say "no big deal FD, we'll just do something else while you get around to it". Which would be fine if ED was a free game done by a volunteer mod team. It's not, it's a business.

Exactly.

Myself, I stopped my exploring, which I was just getting into as I am a newb to this game, and went into mining until this is resolved.

Even that has it's one bugs. Yay Transaction Server disconnect!

CQC is not my thing, at all.

I will go back to exploring soon, but might as well finishing out mining enough to build a better exploration ship.

I rescanned a black body one last night (cos my ELW was missing from the system map, a previous partial fix having given me the star and one icy planet shown as a plain black disc) and it stayed black. So that might not help.

Thanks. I've tried a couple and I don't seem able to rescan them. They are in a kind of limbo. I can see their names which suggests they are already scanned. But they don't appear in the left-hand navigation panel and the target information panel (on the left of the HUD) says 'None' instead of 'Gas giant' or whatever.

Checked corrupted systems and only some blackholes and an Earth-likes I have scanned seem to be missing.
Also, one of my scans that is not working is from the 2nd Oct.

Checked 20 random systems from my missing 84. 1 showed unexplored, 1 does not appear on the GAL MAP, but all of the other 18 are restored. Guessing that puts mine 95% or better restored. Good enough for me. Loosing 4-8 systems I can live with, loosing 84 not so much.

this ^ exactly
Glad this "exploration gate" is soon over with, it's finally going in the right direction...

I have a new update to add in a moment but other than that the list is up to date. :)

Something still not quite right with my data scanned between the 6th and 9th of October:

Screenshot_0025.pngScreenshot_0026.png

As of now I'm still missing a selection of stuff that I only parped the foghorn at and of the 2 bodies that I certainly scanned, the star is not ID'd and the water world looks somewhat odd.

I don't have extensive logs of my travels in this period, but I'm a little concerned that it's not quite as "fixed" as FD think it might be.

thats basicly most of my lost data now... the only systems that have missing Data are now systems where planets that on the system map have no texture.. and of those systems the planets have been explored, but ALL the stars in that system remain unexplored.

thats still alot of stars for me and aslong as i keep running into systems with missing texture celestial bodies i do not wanna continue my exploration.

so the problem is deffinetly related to the planets that dont show there texture on the system map.
which one was first i don't know tho

In the dates 3-4-5-6 October many system I had explored are shown as unexplored (in red), while others are ok.

I've been back from Sag A* yesterday and sold the data without problems.
The scans before 1.4 and after the fix are totally fine. I got my "first discovered by" tags, at least in 18 systems with ELW that I specifically checked.

Unfortunately, 2 days of missing data weren't restored (I am looking at these systems right now). The planets are all missing or black. The stars show "Unexplored. First discovered by Axel R" - this is quite funny actually.
