Scan Megaships in Aquisition Systems

I have used every possible scan to locate these things. From the mission board (View in Maps) to filtering in the power play area. Have only located 1. I think thew bean counters that program this bull puckey don't even play this game.

Are you moderators listening? Or do you just sit there waiting for some profanity to make your life worth while?

To do in-game...

Fly to an acquisition system.

Look for a mega ship in the system.

Scan it if there is one.

Fly to next acquisition system and repeat.

There are things you can look for to improve your chances of finding systems that are more likely to have a mega ship in them. Higher population is one I found helps, although it is not a guarantee.

Better to take loads of powerplay cargo to each system and drop them off as part of the search., which will make the trips worthwhile even without a mega ship present. Replace these with some cheap cargo to return to the supply system and more merits appear.

But that involves playing the game rather than grinding merits, so probably not that interesting.

I use Inara.cz to generate a list of star systems with megaships in them. It's not completely accurate because it's dependent on players uploading their journal files, but it takes a lot of the tedium out of searching.

Your advice does indeed help find megaships. But none of the ones found count toward the 'Scan megaships in acquisition systems' weekly task. They do count for merits though.

In the spirit of sharing: I found scannable megaships for Felicia Winters 'scan megaships in acquisition systems', in the following systems:
(I'll edit in more as I find them)

I Carinae - 2 x megaships
Bedrock - 1 x megaship

After 23 hours of fruitless searching, I gave up. Now I remember why I have stopped playing this game so many times. Ah well. Maybe come back to it in another couple of years then.

Why wouldn't you take the advice then? Using Inara as IstvaanDCIV said does work. But you have to make sure it's in a valid Acquisition system. Putting a stronghold system in the "Near star system" already helps a lot and if you open Additional Options and enter Power: None you should be good to go.

Creating a static list isn't as helpful, since Acquisition systems can change every week.

Then why doing this scanning nonsense at all ? To fulfil the weekly assignments for what, 2800 merits on top ? There are much better ways of generating merits in 23 hours...

My 2 ct., ymmv though...

If you hit the "view additional options" button when searching for stations on Inara, you can specify it to only show "Unoccupied" and "Contested" systems involving your Power:

Now I'm not sure if scanning megaships in any such system counts towards a "scan in Acquisition systems" assignment, or if your Power has to appear on the "Powerplay Information" section for a star system on the galaxy map, like so:
