Scenario Editor Land Shapes and Purchasing Property

SCENARIO EDITOR!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! [squeeeeee] I hope there's another contest for the community!!!!

Will the scenario editor allow us to set the park boundaries with unique shapes rather than just big open squares? Like maybe we could have a park grid and set each square of land for sale, or restricted? Or building outside of the park border (for visual purposes)? What about backgrounds like an ocean?

Look how cool this looks with the removal of any visual background (just blank/black space around the park edges)

That ^ is a fun scenario, not because of "management" but because its size and shape make it feel like a puzzle. Anybody remember their first time playing RCT1 and finding the little pond in the back of Forest Frontiers and wanting to buy it, but then realizing you wasted all your money? That's fun because it allows the player to explore.

Also will it be possible to modify the price and prestige of rides and scenery? How about guests? Maybe there could be an option to disable the use of downloaded blueprints for added challenge? Or limit the amount of rides/buildings a player can have?

Didn't expect a scenario editor, what a huge and awesome surprise! I am really curious about how flexible it is as well. People could create some crazy stuff with it.

Doubtful but that's something I would absolutely love. It's great starting with a small plot of land and paying to expand it, it deepens the gameplay and a good place to spend a lot of money for a game that gives you tons!

I was also hoping that with the scenario editor that they'd announce some new terrain backdrops. Coastal beach, coastal cliffs, ocean/island, sandy dunes, etc.

I am definitely excited for the editor, I'm going to set up all the research based on when the rides came out in real life. Start with just a couple of classic flat rides and a side friction! ...which I think I'm probably the only person that was excited for that [tongue]

LOL I'm exactly the opposite - I want to play harder mode without research - would love to be able to put in land purchase but research drives me bonkers. I'm also hoping that the scenario editor gives us some shop options - would love to set it so 50% of adults hate ketchup for example or something like that. There again I have no idea if that's how it already works:)

I would really appreciate a random terrain generator as well with just random terrain with rocks, water and trees, like in games such as Banished, etc.
Currently you have to do all the sculting yourself which can take a long time and the created ones on the workshop are also few and far inbetween and most of them only playable in sandbox mode. More templates other than boring flat ones are a welcome addition.

Also, research items have to be custumizable in terms of the order you attain them, but I think they did put that option in, going by the screenshots. This is an improvement from always the same exact order in challenge mode.

I do hope we get 4x4m tile purchasing like RCT123. That would allow for more interesting shapes too. If only we were able to place scenery outside the park boundries to make it fit even nicer.

That would only work if there is a parkwide grid that we could work with and there is no news on that. *cries in a corner*

If you select the entrance and edit the building and put wall pieces in every corner you have a park wide grid

You cant see it at all times but I think the game works with a 4x4m invisible grid like this

But indeed a park-wide grid you can enable/disable has been a suggestion of mine too ever since we got the alpha.

A park wide grid that could be turned on/off would be great, especially if it allowed for terrain to snap-to-angles like in RCT, so that it would be easier to line up a hill with paths, and maybe even allow us to raise large chunks of land much faster which would help people with creating dark rides. Seems like a pretty simple concept that would help the game tremendously.

I don't see the point of a scenario editor as long as gameplay, balance and A.I. are still off.

I agree, but apparently the gameplay and financial balancing is finished? I'm kind of disappointed in the financial system, but I don't think enough people care for it to be improved. One idea I had is to reduce the effect scenery has on ride prestige, especially slow track rides. When playing challenge mode on harder, I feel like all I am worried about is the age of my rides, because I want to make classic rides but aging rides don't profit. And you have to build specific rides to make a lot of money, like ferris wheels are worthless, and slow track rides get the biggest lines. I guess thats how it will always remain.

Maybe we can edit ride prestige and scenery ratings in the scenario editor? that would be awesome

Maybe the scenario editor gives us the ability to rebalance guests' needs, beliefs, desires and intentions.

I expect that as it was in RCT3, but we also had guest editors in RCT3 and photo albums. I'm really surprised they didn't mention photos or stamp/passport collecting. Would have been cool if we could create guests to add into our custom scenarios, and possibly create objectives based around them

Since there will be a scenario editor, will we now have the ability to create our own landscape and background from scratch? Such as a beach scenario with ocean that goes off into infinity. That is not possible with the current landscapes. You cannot modify or edit anything outside the white dotted line. You can’t even delete trees or rocks outside the park.

I care a lot about financial and gameplay adjustments. This is very much needed. I talked many times about how small things could be adjusted to improve the game... so I'll not repeat myself, but this is the side I really care about.

Wouldn't count on it.

From the looks of it it's just giving the player the ability to balance stuff themselves. Which is a step in the right direction.

I do think the scenario editor is going to create some wonderful ideas including ones based on the original game. You can see with how the scenarios have evolved since release. I do think there will be the ability to tweek guests needs and such. As well as capping or enforcing prices on certain items.

As purely a scenario player you can see, which ones have good or bad ideas. I would love to have stuff like no pre-built rides or scenery allowed or only with limited building sets etc. Or no repeating shops/rides etc. Hopefully the possibility are there to create some unique ideas. As long as its fairly flexiable with multiply yearly objectives, and people will to support this function we could have a winner for us none creative gamers.
