Scenery and cs management

I checked the list of suggestions and it seems nobody has mentioned this. There needs to be a user managed system for accessing game scenery and custom scenery. Scrolling through hundreds of items of cs to find one small item is extremely time consuming and irritating. Players need to be able to organize their cs in the way that best suits them. They could either do it using folders in the game files or have the ability to assign a specific collection to another collection. For example: Suppose I want to make a collection of all items used in creating a Disney-style main street. I could put all of Shyguy's Main Street building sets in there along with anything created by someone else. This would require the game to allow for multiple layers of folders rather than the single layer used by RCT3. The developers could study the way the Sims series has handled it although even they could use a better system. A favorites collection would be great as well since users have their favorite scenery items and cs makers.

I know people have mentioned an undo button but the most irritating problem with RCT3 was custom buildings not being saved as one piece. In many cases, one badly placed building required long periods of deleting each tiny part of the building. All content must be able to be deleted using the multiselect feature. Selection boxes for scenery, rides, etc need to be resizable and moveable anywhere on the screen AND you should be able to save the location of it so that it appears in the same place the next time you use it. For example: the idea of all the content icons on the left side was terrible. Most people are right handed. I saw a screenshot where the UI was on the bottom. Not a good idea for pc's. In fullscreen mode if someone has their taskbar on autohide, it will pop up every time they go to select something. I've had that happen with a couple of games already.

And I don't know if this was mentioned or not but please enough with the puking. I've been to many theme parks and I've never seen a kid throw up on the sidewalk. I'm sure it happens but not as much as it did in the RCT games. And please, let's go for some kind of realism. After three cartoonish games, it's time for a serious one.

I think this is really important for a decent game. If someone feels sick, they try to make it to a bathroom and a lot of the coaster rides issue sick bags for anyone who feels they may be sick. There is nothing worse than seeing lots and lots of sick all over the paths, like we saw in RCT3. This applies to rubbish also, people don't throw empty drink cartons or food packaging on the ground, all over the park, they use litter bins, or most civilised people do, so can we please have sick and litter dealt with in a less dramatic way that what we saw in RCT3. It isn't necessary and will spoil the game if its over done.

didnt u watch the latest dev video ? it will be possible to copy complete buildings u just created. im pretty sure they will have a goood system for scenery management.

oh and about the puking........as a little kid i was on a twister with my friend ...and he puked all over me ....so believe me...it does actually happen ;)

i was thinking...the scenery could be real like using real maps from google earth for example, you select the area that you want and the game transform the area in the scenery...it's could be great... (sorry for my bad english)

Judging from all the funny animations they´ve shown so far, there´s probably gonna be some puking. But I also hope that Frontier doesn´t exaggerate this.

Exactly, it was a bit too much in RCT3 and that goes for food litter as well.

I like this idea. There's already a globe in the game (as we saw in Dev Diary 3) so I think this would possible.

Most Puking at the park I worked at, happened ON the ride while in operation and on the ride Platform when the ride was done, making the Operator the one to clean it up before the next ride. Zumur and Tilt where the worst. The Zumur would fling it out and back, hitting the person behind them some but mostly people would just kick their shoes off trying to hit the operator or people on the train as it went around it. The Tilt, the person next to them got it, the seats and foot area of the car. The Platform also got hit when the ride was done.

It was the Ride Operator who had to Clean it up.

As far as Trash, People are Pigs and it was as bad as in RCT3 somedays. Maybe not throwing it on the ground but just leaving it at the table/bench they were sitting at. Some Inconsiderate people would even leave Dirty Diapers on the Tables.

In RCT3 you can save the whole Structure/Stations and all Scenic Items placed around a Coaster. You just hi-light the whole area you want saved. It is RCT2 that was/is a Pain if you want to save Stations and Scenic Items with the Coaster. There you have to Click Each and Every Wall/Structural Piece and Scenic Item 1 at a time and if you missed one....

But having the ability to Save Flat Rides with their Scenic Items, Stations/Buildings would be nice also.

Now that you can save individual Buildings, I can make a few themed "Poop & Puke" Sheds ( a covered toilet and first aid stall right next to each other with a sign saying Poop & Puke ) and place them as needed, instead of piece by piece one at a time.

just spent 10 days at WDW and only saw three vomit spills - one fresh, two being cleaned up. there may have been a few more older cleanups, but not many... maybe 3-4. so the rampant vomit/rubbish path decorations of RCT3 won't be missed.

Of all the ideas I presented everyone just grabbed the puking complaint? What about the need for a comprehensive scenery management system? I'm really interested in hearing other people's ideas on that because it's a very important, but overlooked issue with RCT games so far, even the newest ones. As someone who has over 1200 items in my RCT3 scenery/themed folder alone, I can tell you, finding one item ingame can be extremely irritating. Just for example: Last night in RCT3 I wanted to create a small Flintstones area in my kids' area of the park. It's a building set so I found it in the walls/building section of the scenery tab. It was near the top under the title Flintstones. So far, so good, right? However, set #2 by the same author, Osudenny wasn't below it as it should have been. It was in the O's section, with other Osudenny items. That wouldn't be so bad if I knew who the author was. But what about a set where I don't know or remember who the author was? I'd have to search every item in the scenery tab to find what I'm looking for. That's just a completely unnecessary headache in a game that's supposed to be fun.

You were able to copy and paste completed buildings in RCT3 also, but you couldn't delete them except piece by piece. And I wouldn't bet the house on them having a good scenery management system. Theme Park Studio is brand new and theirs is very much like RCT3..one place for all your scenery, no categories, no filters to speak of. A search function is really needed also.

I agree, RCT3 scenery management system wasn't meant to work with custom scenery, it was too complicated.
In Planet Coaster, I firstly hope there will be a strong theme identity with the assets brought by Frontier, allowing us to choose between distinct categories.
Now for custom scenery, I don't even know if we will have a packs, like with RCT3, or if we'll have to download each object, therefore it'll be easier to put them into the categories we have: buildings, trees, scenery. Plus, I think a keywords system for each object would be efficient: when you click on an object in the menu, you can type all the keywords you want. Then you have a search bar in the global menu and you use the keywords you chose.

I've been playing RCT3 now for awhile and I hope custom scenery, custom tracks and custom rides will be an option with Planet Coaster. With that said, I hope there will be a system in place for an easier way to keep track of custom scenery objects in the game itself. RCT3 is one of my favorite games to play. But at the same time, it was irritating to try and find the custom scenery you just installed. I think this game will be a success and more with this option available to make it more user friendly. And a side note, a specific place to download customs scenery to use just with Planet Coaster, a place to display projects, etc. I'm looking forward to playing this game. [happy]
