Scorpion is a joke.

I like your ideas, but I'd have the manufacturing capability as an optional facility for fleet carriers. Much more useful mobile.
Once upon a time I did that two week EVE Online trial and followed a mate around for a while. Trust me, you want your stuff firmly bolted to the ground with as much guns around it as possible, or you might log in to the game to find your fleet carrier torn apart and sold.

Although personally, I think it's easier to just accept it's a game, that was the design choice, and there's no great need to think up an explanation.
This would be easier if it made for good gameplay.. Though it sounds like at least a subset of Elite fans accept it, so 🤷‍♂️. Personally, I'm more of a sniper than a "spray and pray" kind of player, so I'm not overly impressed with this "design choice". YMMV.

It's too bad that SRVs can't be outfitted like ships and suits, where you could pick the weapon you want on your SRV. For example, outfit the Scorpion with a Scarab turret, and provide other turrets like a slow firing but heavy hitting equivalent to a 50 cal sniper rifle. Perhaps someday!

Let's make a more combat centered SRV. Players love pew pew.
sure, but for what role in combat?
  • long range support?
  • urban /settlement combat?
  • anti infantry?
  • anti vehicle?
  • precision or suppresion?

there are many possible roles, currently it is not sure what role the scorpion has been designed for.

I already wrote in the suggention thread to make the scorpion weapons interchangeable, similar to ship weapons, so player can outfit it depending of preferred playstyle or current requirement.

People wanted two-seater for multiplayer coop on exploration, the sporty car for exploring strange new worlds with the second half and got combat srv for no-one.

A friend just told me this, and it sounds like he has the right idea:

"It feels like a piece of an incomplete puzzle. Like, the situations it was would warrant such a thing don't exist yet. (Though Frontier mentions settlement defense missions are coming) It feels very... Keelback-before-Ship Launched Fighters-was-released."

Aww, no auto aim?

Scarab gun might be tighter but hull is paper thin. Scorpion is total tank, I mullered it into a ravine in testing and lost 2% hull. If you want pinpoint accuracy I say get out of mummy's womb, into your dominator suit, and use the Scorpion for cover and reloads.
AKA, it's a literal tank.

I like it. Of course it doesn't have pinpoint accuracy. The Scarab is already powerful against infrantry but at least it can easily be countered thanks to having no armour.

If the Scorpion had the same accuracy it would be flat out impossible to go on foot with one of those around.

It's a game, it needs balance, and balance in games usually means not copying real life.

Not tried it myself yet. Bought some, just not got round to trying it yet.

However, people say the gun is better in turret view, which suits me fine, since i use the scarab gun in turret view as well.

I guess its mainly designed for two people, one in the turret, but if you can drive and turret, then you're good.

This is not the only possible way for a game to go. The existence of e.g. Arma proves this.

As in, less initial jitter? I'd be fine with the jitter being tied to driver-seat shooting, with greater accuracy saved for the person dedicating themselves to manning the turret. Speaking of, can a single player man the turret directly like a second player would? Does that involve climbing into the back seat or anything like that?

Someone tested the Scorpion against Guardian sentinels.
Not that the Scarab is bad against them, but I think the Scorpion is better.

I tested it only in a planetary port, but I really like how it feels, sounds, and handles.
Also the basic paint job is sufficiently military for me.
Now if only FD would fix the military sand paint of my T6 Guardian Stuph-Hazzer.

my Scorpion has no Rocket Ammo, and I can´t reload it? Then: I can´t hit any person with it. I guess...there is some work to do.

That's what someone said earlier in the thread.

I just want the Scorps engine in the Scarab. The engine sound of the Scarab is the worst.

They made it worse in Update 9.

You used to hear it slowly amp up. Now, as soon as you press accelerate, it seems to go almost directly to a shrill EEEEEEEE that you'd previously only hear when you were tearing the absolute asre out of it.
