Sentry Vs Battle Anaconda?! OK!

OK, after completing a retrieve structural regulators mission planet side, I took my Anaconda (with newly fitted A7 shields - 2.1!), back down near the surface to watch the cute little sentries shoot at me for a while.

I had avoided killing them because I couldn't be bothered docking in the system to get the bounties.

So, they shot at me with little effect, then (from what I can tell) a single missile volleyed from a sentry took out my 3 full rings of (4 pips) A7 shields, three class A shield boosters and 13% hull.

OK!!

(EDIT :: and now a thread seemingly devoted to FD's bug reporting and pay for beta access policy)

Hey guys, great idea here...

How about instead of reporting bugs in the dedicated forum and submitting a detailed report to the devs so it can be fixed, we instead make vague complaints everywhere else that it won't be heard to guarantee that nothing gets done to solve the issue?

Dear CMDR Wind...

It seemed like an interesting and entertaining situation to report on in the forum.

Definitely not a complaint.

I don't really do bug reports, I leave that up to beta testers who pay for that privilege.

;)

Ok, don't report a bug you encountered in a game you paid for. It'll surely improve the quality you get from your purchase.

Probably you collided with one or got rammed by one. That's a thing now, post 2.1. Skimmers do incredible damage if you collide with one. It's supposedly to prevent players from taking them out by ramming them in a ship. Lame if you ask me, but that's what FD did to 'solve the problem'.

Who says he didn't file in a bug report ? Oh right, just looked at his latest post and he didn't.

If he did file a bug report there's no need to post about it in general discussion either, is there?

Beta testing ended weeks ago, so if no one but beta testers reports bugs, how do they get fixed after the beta?

It's not just lame, it's completely counter-productive to good gameplay and I strongly encourage everyone to report it as a bug until FD fixes it.

FD's pay for beta access, has me a little miffed I guess...

Maybe if they did a thing where, if we reported 100 bugs (shouldn't be impossible ;)) they gave you beta access for the next season or something gentlemanly like that.

Thanks for offering an explanation.

That Anaconda has just shy of 900MJ of shields!

I guess a collision would destroy most ships in that case?

My post meant to defend him at first but a quick look at his post got me to realize he didn't file any bug report and clearly only wanted some flaming to start, from some random statement with no proof.

His latest answer also shows that's what he's looking for:

I'm not against flaming when some real aweful bugs happen (after reporting them with support evidence) as it sometime get it aknowledged faster. But not in that case.

Hey John. get me a video showing it happening and I'll get into my conda and try to reproduce it :)

Dear CMDR Laethageal,

I don't have a video of that happening sadly, though if you really would like to reproduce it please try taking (an)...

"Anaconda (with newly fitted A7 shields - 2.1!), back down near the surface to watch the cute little sentries shoot... for a while... they shot... with little effect, then... a single missile volleyed from a sentry then takes out... 3 full rings of (4 pips) A7 shields, three class A shield boosters and 13% hull."

I was nose down and very close to the surface at the time CMDR so I guess it was possible that I came into contact with one of three Skimmers and a single Stinger there.

Truly,

john

At least the OP raised an issue that was informative, and actually about something game related. Your post is unhelpful at best. Perhaps he just wanted confirmation with other players? The irony of complaining about "vague complaints"...

It could be a genuine problem.

Perhaps, as the OP was close to the ground though, they hit a skimmer, losing shields, then the missile(s?) hit cvausing hull damage. Seems like a lot of hull damage thuogh, maybe a simultanouse ground collision as well?

No. Touching a skimmer with ship shields just takes them down - regardless of their power.

Really skimmers should be nimble enough to have a dodge animation that allows them to evade any ship contact - a bit like limpets can (or could) fly right through your ship.

Touching a skimmer (goliath or sentry) with your ship disables shields and engines temporarily, the rest of the damage was probably from the Anaconda's bulk encountering the ground.

Silliest way to try and fix this player behavior, if you ask me. Perhaps I should lash a skimmer on a stick to the end of my ship. That wouldn't be too OP as an engineer mod, would it? [wink]
