Any reports of the recent passing of the BGS are apparently false. Many player
owned minor factions are today rejoicing in the latest tick. It may have one
foot in the grave and the other on a banana skin, but all plans for a ceremonial
wake are hereby put on hold until further notice.
Will we get one more gasp out of the old girl before she quietly slips away ?
Or will some miracle of 34th century human technology, or even undisclosed alien
technology render the old girl immortal ? Who knows ?
Or perhaps, more importantly, who cares ?
Apparently, there is still a small band of die-hard commanders who have not yet
completely given up on the dream of taking over the whole of the inhabitated
bubble. Or even just their little corner of alternate reality.
And for one such unsung band of heroes known as the Social Eleu Progressive
Party, they will be excited to learn that the latest BGS tick has brought them
an election state in Kpaniya. Can they muster the forces to win over the
people, and hence the election ? Simultaneously driving down their influence in
Santjalan to put a halt to the expansion monster.
Only time will tell. Or, more accurately, only the SEPP LOCAL 24/7 NEWS will tell you.

I'm still planning to chase after Kancro and the rest of the DWE in the next week or three. When I do I'll be Buckyball Running all the way to Sag A* in an attempt to retake the Asp record, or at least hopefully improve my personal best time.
When I have a definite date for departure (a day or two before I set off) I'll write something for the news. Then I'll have a success or failure follow-up.
I need to fill up with jumponium prior to departure though. Boosts are banned for the A* Challenge, but I'll need them at the end of the DWE, as I want to try to reach the new "most distant reachable star" which needs some level-3 boosts to get to. Getting there in an Asp means not taking either an SRV (or a Detailed Surface Scanner), so I'll need to do all of prospecting before I leave the bubble.
My goal to reach the most distant star does at least force me to configure The Nomad in such a way that she'll be a competitive racer with a plottable range of 37.35 in the route planner:

I didn't play this weekend after all (my gaming PC is plugged into the family TV, so that's just how it is sometimes ), so I'm still docked at Kanwar Horizons in the Turbo system some distance away. I'm hoping to play tonight, and Eleu/Kpaniya will be my destination.
BTW: I've clearly not been following events closely enough, I thought that there was a pirate/anarchy faction in control of Kpaniya? I guessing that this isn't the case now if there's an election on the horizon?

It is theorised that other dangerous furniture may be lurking in nearby systems, ready to pounce on unsuspecting travellers. You have been duly warned.
Meanwhile, the head SysAdmin at the Central Galactic Polling Centre is reputed to be about to place a bounty on the elusive "/dev/null". This notorious rogue, who has been plagueing the galaxy for months now, is believed responsible for the frequent mis-appropriation of Commanders effort when tally'ing up the daily tick. Those following the frequent reports of "missed BGS ticks" probably know what we're talking about. Meanwhile, the other dev, "Fdev", stubbornly play Ostrich by burying their head in the sand and proclaiming that all the complainers are mad, and that it is not possible that some Gremlin snuck in and changed the cron job bash script ever so subtly.

The SSO Indefatigable is 100% ready again. A.I. and A.S.T.R.A. are back online. Cause of malfunctions still unknown. *cough* Well...I suspect sabotage by the movement for Kpaniya free, wich leads me to the main point:
During my stay at the local infirmary at Tilman Settlement I heard rumors about the movement having trouble with the Kpaniya free industries. Something about unpaid debts, this might be an unforseen, but quite welcome side effect of our economical efforts.
Since the movement - industries deals were mostly black market related, industries won't get their money back the legal way. There are whispers about raids on secret movement facilities. This might even lead to a civil war, since I saw movement's agents gathering heavy weapons. This is a major thread for the overall security in the systems. I recommend close observation.
However, this seems to distract the movement from the elections and distant the local population from them, which is good for us. Recent polls showed an overwhelming support for SEPP.
Of course, nothing is for certain these days. The mob's support comes as fast as it goes away and there is absolutely nothing to do about it sometimes...
Come what may, we will keep up our effords! Let us bring order to this troubled system!!
I ran a single high rep/high influence smuggling mission for EEC yesterday within the Eleu system, turns out that the delivery was to SEPP anyway, so I didn't feel too bad.
Then spent some time in a CZ in Allowis to remember how to fight before our next war.
I'll run another mission or two tonight, then I'll try some prospecting in the hope of chasing the DWE.
