Seriously what is FDs reasoning behind the absolute rubbish PP new weapons

Firstly I'm happy, I choose the advanced accelerator and it's not that bad, but I was hoping PP would see the rise or new tactical combat with all the new items
-
The hammer and prismatic shields are also useful, the rest?
-
Total waste of time on FDs part
-
If the new weapons came in all sizes, turreted, fixed and gimballed this would massively increase the fun factor of these new items
-
But instead they have been ignored, time wasted scripting and adding these weapons in game and there doesn't seem to be anything going to be done about it
-
For example I really feared the idea
of the cytoscrambler and now it's just a joke
-
What is their reasoning? Because I don't see it

Well I did say this during the PP beta, you can see the reasoning though, it's there to influence players and help promote merit acquisition. I guess they just don't have the time to balance the more useless ones atm.

So they make flavor weapons for factions, but make sure that they are not so good they would be required for competitive pvp but adequate to use in pve and people still complain?

The reasoning was that there aren't any hard-to-obtain god-weapons that make you instantly dominate everyone. This is not, apparently, that kind of game.

Edit: and, if there were then we'd have endless threads of "I spent 2 weeks grinding for the invicible weapon of power so I could kill everyone and I'm bored because I'm grinding."

Nothing "flavor" about solid downgrades. Only 3 of the modules are useful at all the rest are trash. You people are ridiculous at defending some of these terrible desicions.

Surly what are you talking about? No ones asking for god weapons, side grades would be fine. These are all solid downgrades.

Im not asking for GOD weapons, I just thought they might actually be of some use instead of being downgrades, I was simply saying that it would have actually made sense to have them in different sizes and with turrets, fixed and gimballed for some variety, at the moment most people just don't want to use them

Exactly what makes the imperial hammer any good? Curious.

I've faced it a few times and it seems pretty good

The Edmund Mahon Retributor is full-on garbage in every category.

It does zero shield damage, zero hull damage and negligible heat damage (as in, firing a Plasma Accelerator causes far more heat buildup to its own ship).

It is a joke, plain and simple. It has no role whatsoever, it is an utter waste of time, money and effort.

Carrot to promote merit grind - which is completely the wrong way to make powerplay FUN.

I'd like to suggest that if you are joining a faction purely because what "you" can get out of it, then that's the wrong reason?

I'd suggest you don't hamper peoples' gaming choices with personal bias; gunning for toys is a valid playstyle, except for the fact that most of them kind of suck.

If you're going to have the Toy Circuit as part of the game at all, then the toys should be worth the effort. Mostly they're not.

That's pretty much the only reason though... Got my shields last week, onto my pack missiles and then done with PP.

That's probably the only reason for you and many other players but I bet that's not the reason FD implimented it. If that was the case they would have just done cgs with weapon rewards. The weapons are also supposed to be side grades or just something different not upgrades from the current assortment. I'm sure a lot of them still need balancing but I think expectations are little different then what FD's intentions were.

If you analyse what PP is, and ask what it is doing bolted on to a revered space simulation, then you will quickly realise that rubbish rewards for participation are very apt.

Ya I mean powerplay is supposed to be about expanding influence and control across the galaxy. It can definitely be improved but it's not supposed to be a rewards grind. If the journey isn't enjoyable then powerplay probably just isn't for you. (Not you specifically obviously lol)
