Server Issues?

This is getting a bit ridiculous. What is really annoying is the server status keeps showing as OK when it clearly isn't OK.

The interesting thing about all of this is the game is pretty much unplayable in solo or private groups... why would there be server issues when you aren't playing with anyone else or in limited numbers but not in open? I reckon it is DW2; probably so many people are avoiding open because of the explorer ganking and the servers aren't configured for that. I wonder if the lack of PVE only mode is biting in the bottom?

Thing is, it's not consistent or across the board. I've been playing tonight in UK, on BT Broadband, and ive had one disconnection which looked like it was down to Frontier's servers when I started playing, what, a couple of hours ago? It was a little laggy at that point. Ive had one other disconnection about an hour ago which was down to BT.

So for me it's definitely not unplayable in solo.

What bothers me to be honest is the lack of transparency around this. I don't expect Frontier to provide a full root cause analysis, but being open about the general issues and their causes would help a lot, and go some way to diffusing irritation. Along with that, some idea of what they are doing about it would be good.
I've just started getting back into ED after a couple of years, and am (on the whole) enjoying what they've done so far.

What would be interesting to see is how people who have lots of connection problems and people who have few connection problems are connected to the Internet and to the game.
router to Net: fiber/cable (phone or TV)/mobile, IPv4/IPv6
PC to router: cable/wi-fi
game: uPnP/TURN-NAT/port forwarding

UK virgin media, solo just simply wasn’t working at all for more that a minute, open fine! Bizarre.

indeed, it's even comical since i use to play solo just for the improved network experience, today i'm getting connection errors in solo and open works just (mostly) fine. expect tinfoil on how frontier is coercing defenseless explorers into open! [haha]

on a more serious note, i'm not really surprised that load balancing isn't flexible enough to provide an equal experience across modes. so in the end all modes aren't equal! heresy! (no, really, not that serious! :D)

Keep getting "Cannot Connect to Server" timeouts when traversing "Witch-Space" for seemingly "minutes".
Anyone else?

Only happens to me in Open!

Edit: UK Virgin Media, solo & Mobius all working fine...Open a 'No-Go!'. Bizarre.

Been playing in PG now for several hours without any issues. Usually I switch to solo if servers start acting up, but this week solo seems worse than PG. I read somewhere on these forums yesterday that solo mode was experiencing unusual issues.

I just tried to play both in Solo and Open and I had connection issues. First I got stuck in witch space in solo when I jumped back to Sol, then I got kicked to the main menu. Then I started in open, and my ship was near the Sun in normal space. Then I tried to go into supercruise and it got stuck again and kicked me to the main menu. I quit the game after that.

Same here.

UK, BT, Smart hub, FTTC, Speedtest.net ping 9ms, DL 71.86 Mbps, UL 18.84 Mbps. 5Ghz WIFI. It isn't my broadband it is the game; Solo unplayable, private group unplayable, open fine.

There are various options how the game is connecting to the servers, maybe there's something in the default method that's causing connection instability. MTU size? UPnP vs TURN vs Port Forward? Something else (on server side)?

Tried both open and solo. No joy this evening. Paying top dollar for a Virign Mega Mega shcmart box + opticals. No probs with anyother online thingy.

They are their own worst enemy sometimes. They insist on commutating issues via twitter and the like first. The launcher is the last thing to be updated even though it the first thing people see. I don't think they will ever learn; They go for the tried and tested method of burying the head in the sand until the screams can't be ignored. :(

I wonder if it's a ping thing, my ping is pretty high here and not been able to sign on for about a week now...
