Can someone recommend a good stock source for scrap nearby that is still full? Both the ones I was using last night have run out.

Wolf 424 had high supply 90 mins ago - Readdy station or something.

Inbound with 290 tons - ETA 5 mins...

Thanks - silly really - have now equipped a basic shield and DC for the queue at Hutton - lesson learned! :D

Mind you, I should probably own up that I just ran into the star at Hutton (not concentrating) and damaged my cargo hatch and now I've lost 6T of my cargo

...We've had a couple of commanders bring Anacondas...

I think the NPCs are trying to get in on the action, too. Here are a couple of their big ships I spotted after my first trip:

No longer a Hutton virgin.

Unfortunately no sombreros, stuffed donkeys or T'shirts available to record the fact all I got was a lousy screen shot...

Docking Etiquette for new commanders:

1. Fly to Hutton with your systems set to OPEN
2. On arrival, stow your gun ports, turn on your lights and announce yourself in Local chat
3. Look at your scanner - there may be a queue by the pad. Note the other commanders
4. If docking manually - sniping the pad is "bad form" (unless you're desperate for a pee). Wait your turn if you can. We want to hear lots of "go ahead" and "you first" followed by "no, no, I insist!"
5. If docking automatically, set your computer up and it will handle things for you
6. Listen out for Anacondas and Type 9's making offers to drop their load. The polite way to do things is to help them unload so they can make a second journey! Ramming cargo cannisters is "not on". "Thankyou" is the standard response to these altruistic commanders

Number 7 MOST IMPORTANT. Tune in to Hutton Orbital Radio for updates and music.See you at Hutton, Commanders

Uhoh...I just removed shields for more cargo space...and I'm half way there again already... :p

Just be careful - I got too casual manoeuvring near the tower and bashed it - already had lost 33% hit points on wear and tear - the bash took me down to 30% hull - then the bloody pad did that thing where it's the wrong way around.

Actually I just realised as I'm typing this that it was me that forgot the blast shields were meant to be behind me - I ground myself into space scrap truninr around!

:O

Just had our first(?) Hutton Fuel Rat rescue!

Cmdr Freethinker fell asleep at the wheel and ended up adrift in space, 470kls the wrong side of Hutton. When I arrived on the scene Cmdrs Lazrien and Firebrand83 were already on route to the station. As I was already parked there I took off and headed out towards the client, who logged in just long enough to deploy a beacon and thus give me a heading and distance (logging out again immediately to conserve remaining fuel/oxygen). I then kept my heading and tracked my distance from Hutton until it hit 470kls, parked up and deployed my own beacon for Lazrien and Firebrand to follow.

* time passes
* I crack open the first of my 7 crates of gin
* Lazrien arrives
* I report a tragic loss (failure to re-scoop the second crate of gin)
* time passes
* Firebrand arrives

With three rats now in approximately the right location the client logs back in, forms a wing, deploys beacon and prays. We're 100kls off course and hit SC fast. Within a minute we've dropped to the client's beacon. My first fuel limpet fails to go in (it just impacts on the surface, knew I should've turned off my targetting computer) but Lazrien quickly managed to get the next one in and the client is saved.

Yay!

I subsequently lose the "last one back to Hutton buys the drinks" race and dispense G&T's all round.

Just another day in the life of the Fuel Rats.

Fly safe commanders.

Right! one of you volunteer to self destruct and the other two will sell you for scrap - deal?
