Ship configurations in outfitting.

Since we can now store modules... it would be nice if we could save multiple ship configurations. Then when in outfitting you could select that configuration and the modules would be changed out and the existing ones stored. This would be really handy for users of multi-purpose ships like the Cobra or Python, and others.

Anyway, just a suggestion for the Fdev think tank. :)

A really good idea... +1 for that

I've thought the very same. I have specific loadouts for deep space exploration for my Asp Explorer, and prospecting for materials, and switching things around is obnoxious. Having preset configurations to plug in would be great. Perhaps we can add a feature for "Find closest station capable of this config"?

Something that I didn't consider was commanders that are always out and about as I usually operate out of a home base... so I'm guessing that you'd have to wait for the modules to be delivered if you were not at the base were your modules are stored... and for a fee of course.

I still think that it would be handy.

Thanks for the replies and rep. :)

I would like to see a few more options for module delivery as well...perhaps a free/extremely cheap option that takes a few hours, and a slightly more expensive(double?) option that is instant(at least under 5 mins, unless you're getting your stuff hauled all the way to Colonia).

Better yet, allow you to assign Crew to other ships you own, and have those ships deliver the modules for you for free(since you're already paying crew a cut of profits), in simulated time for # of jumps it would take that ship. (and maybe with an expansion could even have crew wing up with you in your other owned ships.)

I suspect such a feature will likely never come to be, so I saved up for a second Python to have one to mine with and a stripped down engineered one for trading missions. It is nice that we can name our ships now as that makes it a little easier to pick the desired one in stored ships menu.
