I haven't seen this mentioned on the forums (found out about it via facebook) but they talked about ship naming in last night's livestream!

Yeah, I am also surprised the forum didn't spontaneously break into celebrations when Zac mentioned this yesterday! It has been asked so many times that I'd think a lot of people should really be happy now!

I take it http://i.imgur.com/GG6u5aF.gif is confirmed?
As much as i think the idea of giving your ship some personality is awesome. It is almost inevitable to not come across ships named "SS y0l0sWag#420" and the likes. So i'm a bit torn on this
That's not how it works. As soon as a feature gets implemented everyone jumps on them why they are wasting their time with such an unimportant thing. Literally nobody asked for ship naming (ever) and everyone expected them to work on cockpit cats (very desirable BTW). It's time they listen to their player base, otherwise the game will be dead in x because of y.

My Vulture "Killer"
My Sidewinder "Old Friend"
What can i call my Python?
Ah, ok. Thanks. Guess I'll tone it down for now in that case. They're actively working on it. It might not be ready for 2.3 (jeez ... how hard can it be?) but Ed has seen ships flying around with names on their sides in the dev build.
I guess they are using the same rules already applying to CMDR creation, nothing would change in this regard.
