Ship Naming

Cool.

My Asp Explorer "Columbus"
My Cobra 3 "Smuggler"
My Vulture "Killer"
My Sidewinder "Old Friend"

What can i call my Python?

The Python Syphon.

Hey if we can have ship naming can we also have bumper stickers that say "My other ship is an Imperial Cutter" or "We Brake for Nobody"?
Or am I getting too far ahead of myself here?
Right.

Yay! Ship naming!
I reserve "Spaceball 1" through "Spaceball 30"
:D

whoop!

i like a well thought out name as much as i like a puerile name.

unless it's at least visible on the scanner the whole exercise is pretty futile. I can 'see' the names i've given to my ships already.

I'm surprised it took this long. Star Citizen made 2 million recently selling "limited" edition ships with a unique/random serial number printed on the side.

Players want something to differentiate their ship from any ship that can be bought from the shipyard. I know I'd love a way to name my ships, I've got 4 anacondas, 5 asps, 9 dbx, 2 pythons and it's frustrating to check if "is this the passenger anaconda or the mining anaconda?" or "Is this the explorer asp or the refueling tanker asp". Even if I'm the only one who could see the name, it'd help tremendously with organization.

Think its fairly obvious everyone must name their ship in military speak so every station will know and say your ships name.

It's a long shot at the moment but I'd enjoy seeing a bronze plaque on the bridge/cockpit at some point with name/serial number of the ship emblazoned.

Because immersion.

Ooh, nice to know it's somewhere in the pipeline...

As much as i think the idea of giving your ship some personality is awesome. It is almost inevitable to not come across ships named "SS y0l0sWag#420" and the likes. So i'm a bit torn on this

And more "HMS Harambe"s than you can wave a stick at. :)

Would love this, namely first letter of ship's company, dash, first 3 letters of player's name, dash H or L for heavy or light, then the number of the player's ship.

So an anaconda for me would be D-VER-H23, which would close be what flight controllers say when docking. Delacy Victor Echo Romeo Heavy, plus 23 for the 23rd ship, giving a more or less unique procedural generated serial number.

i can't believe they are working on shipnaming, when we still have not even a confirmation for cockpit cats. nobody needs shipnaming, you'll anyway never target your own ship, or see it from the outside. the game will be dead very soon because i heard that that other game has already cabin chimpanzees and thruster dogs AND will include them in their starter pack. it is time, that FDEV listens to their player base.

lol

+1 rep

Wonderful idea. Let's place cats into a zero G environment and then add furry dices or laser pointers dots that jump around. What could go wrong…

And then, let's dog fight. The cats won't know what hit them (hint, the walls of the ship).

That's really evil.

Do we really want to take the risk that taking cats into space might accelerate their evolution of opposable thumbs, thus dooming humanity?
