Ship progression

Me again :)

Currently i have dumped my starter ship and have been doing some simple exploration and data missions in a hauler nothing special but no weapons, so continuing on the exploration road along with data missions i am now seeing some missions to go kill so and so or be careful you may encounter enemies i think i need a ship where i van defend myself or go and kill so and so.

station i am docked in has a cobra mk3 which comes across to me as a bit of an all rounder, should i use this or aim for something else maybe a diamondback explorer or python??

cheers

The cobra mk 3 is an excellent all rounder for a small ship and is essentially all the ship you will ever need to potter about in.

It has enough space to be a decent miner or trader and enough range to be modified into a decent explorer plus can be set up as a decent fighter. It is the ultimate all rounder just don't expect it to be able to do all at once.

As for progression, many players make the mistake of aiming straight for the large ships without learning how to defend themselves in something much cheaper. Learn your craft first, decide what you prefer doing before aiming too high.

Also, keep your old ships, the fall is much lost daunting when you go bankrupt if you have kept some of your old ships.

The "enemies may be sent against you" one (usually haulage mission) mean they may attempt to interdict you, which is extremely easy to beat against NPCs. So you probably won't need to be in a situation where you need to fight them. But as Mickey stated it is a good idea to learn to protect yourself.

Both the cobra and the python are brilliant multi role ships, however the cobra will be cheaper for you.

Learn how to avoid interdictions and learn how to avoid pirates in planetary rings, and never fly without rebuy
