I'm gathering you are referring to bounty hunter as in hunting down criminals and the lack of jump range makes you unable to easily travel after criminals over long distances, but why would you really need to do this? I mean once you have found a good place to res hunt that's where you are, and if hunting players, then i'm sure there's plenty on the systems within easy range? so doesn't seem like a flaw?
For RES, the FdL works fine...actually, even the Vulture or any combat capable ship works fine.
I won't comment here how dull and immersion breaking RESs are (what the hell are these Anacondas doing among asteroids crawling with police? Don't tell me they are after stealing a few pieces of rock???)
However a Bounty Hunter should stalk his target, follow it, then take it down. I really would like to use the FdL for:
- Finding a target (PvP, player!) leaving a station.
- Using a Frameshift Wake Scanner to scan his wake (extra utility mount of the FdL come in handy).
- Follow him until he reaches his destination system.
- Interdict in supercruise. Then chase him (speed of FdL comes in handy) and take him down.
- I may need to follow his wake again, if he jumps away.
This sounds much more exciting than blasting mindless NPCs at RESs, right? But this can't be done for the simple fact that FdL has a jump range too short and can't follow anything...
