Ships should be reworked in order to give more incentive to players to use something other than the Python or the Anaconda. (No nerfs involved)

The Krait Mk-II is the the Python competitor.
The Anaconda has no alternative.

While it would be nice to have an extra class 6 or 7 slot for the Clipper, but it would tank to jump range as it only has a class 5 FSD.
I'd rather have the following Clipper changes.
Fuel tank changed from a class 4 to a class 6.
Life support and sensors changed from class 5 to class 7
FSD changed from class 5 to class 6.

The Clipper is currently to sensitive to weight.
Or...keep the Clipper as it is, "flaws" and all. Is that an option?

I would love to see a true medium pad Imperial ship, but I see no reason to change the Clipper. Variety is the spice of life...there are plenty of options if landing on a medium pad is the most important thing in the entire universe.

It would be nice to get a medium Imperial ship, but I don't think we will ever see a new Imperial or Federation ship based on what FDev have said in previous live streams.

Yeah, I know it's unlikely at this point, which kinda sucks.

I hope that also means that a reworking of the Clipper is equally unlikely. It's not a perfect ship, but I don't think there should be perfect ships. The whining is obnoxious.

I've spent a lot of time building and tuning my ships.
Games that Nerf the efforts of a player base over and over again are not games worth playing.
This game has been online for half a decade, These changes should have been done years ago before people invested so much game time.

The same situation took place when engneering was changed in v2.2, Players wanted all Engineering reset regardless of the hundreds of hours sunk into making those upgrades by players. Thankfully Frontier chose not to invalidate player time and investment.

I think when Elite was new and Cash earning was supposed to be ballanced and slow it made sense for ships to be different, each with strenghs and pitfalls. The most expensive ships had the most going for them.

Now that cash grows like grass and ships are changed like shoes, people fixate on the flaws of ships more than what makes them unique.

Yeah, good point. Take away real problems, like difficulty in earning money, and people will start whining about non-problems...like the Clipper needing a large pad.

^^^ I like this :)

I think the DBX is the best exploration ship for me - despite it's terrible fuel scooping, so I have a ship with plenty of 'advantages' and one bit that annoys me...
Likewise, I like how the Courier & FDL fly - how nice it would be of the FDL was as fast as the Courier - or the Courier was the flying death machine the FDL is...

With what appears to be a 'Race to the Top 3" being a thing for some, how much 'fun' is being missed by not trying every ship and flying them for a few sessions? About the only ship I've never flown is the Asp Scout... even I have standards 🤣

Learn to scoop in the north/south pole of the star. No more waiting ever on a fuel scoop.. Not an interesting system? DBX gets 7-8 jumps on a tank so no problem.

I normally negate the slow scooping by FSS'ing while waiting, on a mostly empty tank and good positioning I can 'do' a 30-odd body system and finish just as 'Fuel Scooping Complete' is uttered by my lovely french accented COVAS :)

ETA: Every system is interesting... even the ones with only 8 snowballs... just in case by skipping them I miss some 'hand placed' content. Think how many explorers filter out star classes because they are neither profitable nor 'interesting' ;)

We can all leave the ships alone and add content for other ships.
I agree with this. Outposts having large (for medium ships) cargo hauling missions is what makes the Python the default choice for many, but if these missions focused on smaller amounts of extremely valuable cargo, perhaps uniques not purchasable as a commodity (like a rare archeological artifact or the ruling family's jewels or sword), this would make other ships more viable. It would also help greatly with immersion, as nothing screams "procedural generation gone wrong" than being offered a million credits to haul two tons of biowaste...

I'm already doing this in some scenarios. For example, I've been using my Mamba to haul VIP passengers who are wanted or are likely to come under attack. And why not? What criminal mastermind wouldn't love to take a ride in the most beautiful sports ship in the galaxy? Sure beats the Python, which is the equivalent of a 1980s minivan. I'll also use my Mamba to transport those two tons of precious biowaste that every Elite Anaconda pirate in the galaxy wants so badly. Biowaste, sure.. We know what's hidden in that poo!

No way is the Python one of the best ships in the game, IMO. I find it to be a very....workman-like ship which main advantage is the near exclusive missions for it - the ability to carry 180 tons of cargo to outposts in one trip. And....that's it for me. She's ugly as hell and I wouldn't use one for combat. I tried, with engineering and A-rated modules. Didn't like it, sold her off with no regrets.

I have 2 in my fleet, one for mining and one for outpost trading. I wouldn't use a Python for anything else.

As for the Condy, I've suggested nerfing its magical hull before and I still have the battle scars from that suggestion. :D

The Anaconda is a good ship, but it has its weakneses. For example, while having the largest jump range, its otherwise a terrible exploration ship. It makes a good combat ship, but its also a large slow target.

You are stating your own opinion about the Anaconda being a terrible exploration ship. I don't see any objectivity here. It's by no means a terrible exploration ship. It has pros and cons when it comes to exploration. It's a space whale and maneuvers like one and its size can give some trouble landing on particular planets. Just takes a bit more effort. The cockpit view isn't great but isn't that bad either. Sure there are ships with better views and maneuverability. That doesn't make it a terrible explorer though. It also has all the space you want for all your exploration gadgets and retain a whopping jump range at the same time. If you want to go out exploring a certain region in the galaxy, no other ship will get there faster than this one. If you want to go there fast or not, the Anaconda gives you the option. You can launch a SLF if you want a nimble ship to fly around with. That fuel scoop rate.... No other exploration ship beats that as well.

It's a good general all purpose ship. It's decent/good for any task. There are better ships for particular tasks like there should be. For example there are ships better suited for hauling as much cargo as possible. I'm satisfied with how the ships are at this moment since the Beluga Liner buff. Like what you said about the Clipper, an awesome ship. I use it for deep core mining because of that great speed and cockpit view. Very easy to move through asteroid fields at a fast rate and spot cores at the same time.
