Show Us Your Setup

Sigh... sob... fighting jealousy...

A sad Story here... Although in my high enthusiasm I Kickstarted to the Beta... I'm not actually sure my computer will be able to run it. (Plus due to Family and other commitments I'll have very limited time for playing it (*sob* cue sad music). Also, I'm wondering if it will playable using only a Keyboard... i don't currently own a Joystick or any other Gadgets and due to currently being unemployed would be a while before my wife wouldn't Veto buying one...

I've been playing the Elite clone Oolite with just the Keyboard and that works fine... but E-Dangerous might be too complex?

My Computer is a Laptop: Aspire 5741G,
Intel Core i5 processor 430M (2.26GHz, 3MB L3 Cache)
ATI Mobility Radion HD 5470 (up to 2235MB Hyper Memory)
4 GB Memory
500 GB HDD (currently 260 GB free)
Windows 7 op sys

sooo, anyone know whether there's any Chance my Laptop will be able to run any Version of the game at all? I'd really like to know, even if the answer is no... :S

Hello All,

Thought it might be a good idea to start a thread so people could show us what Elite will be getting played on.

Hi Husayn. I'm not an expert, but I think your computer's in need of a bit more memory. That's the only thing you may need to improve. Also, E.D. Won't run under XP

Hi Folks, I've got a question:

I have the chance to get 3 Dell P190S 19" TFTs from my employer for little money. The question is, should I replace my 24" Acer V243H TFT with 'em?

Anyone using a triplet of 19" TFTs to enjoy ED? Or should I say with my single 24" TFT?

I'm so indecisive. :(

Thanks in advance.

This thread is an awesome resource.

Since I'm not big budget, and I wanted to feel like I contributed to the community, here is where I found the Thrustmaster T Flight for a mere $30 USD + tax.

out of stock - disregard

If anyone has anything specific to this stick they can contribute, please let me know. Mine should be delivered sometime next week, thereafter I'll get the beta + expansion before it expires.

Thanks + 1 more Question

Hi Kennywolf, thanks for advice, my computer's a few years old but Windows 7 just came out when i bought it so it does have Win7 and not XP... still if 4 GB Memory isn't enough is there any way to expand that on a Laptop? they're not easy to open up...

Also, one more Q (for anyone who knows): it might have been answered elsewhere already, don't know, but if i download the game onto my Laptop and it doesn't work to an enjoyable level (or at all) can the game be somehow moved to another PC or re-downloaded without being charged? (If i managed to be able to buy a new Computer, for example).

Here the beginning of my new installation.... begining cause I'll get a new comfortable seat, removing the desk completely replaced by 2 arms holding kbrd and mouse... The screens are 3x 32" (UE32F5000).

Well, should be finished once Elite is out, let's say 2-3 month? :) :) :)

Most laptops are upgradable to a point, check with a site such as Crucial memory to find options, and then just buy it from there or somewhere cheaper. Laptop max memory is often 4, 8 or 16 so it may be full, or you could have some head room. Unless it's something like an ultra book, they are generally not difficult to get into, you'll generally find something on YouTube to help too if you search.

Currently if you install on multiple computers you get emailed an authentication code each time it's installed which must be entered in order to run the client.

Please Use Spoiler Tags For Large Images

Hi Folks
Wonderful setups you all have here!

But please, if your posting big images, could you use the spoiler tags when your creating your post? Its the little pink tag to be found on the right hand side above the text box. You might well ask why? Well its because the Moderation Team received requests from those on mobile devices, limited bandwidth or slow connections if we could do something about image heavy threads. Your cooperation in this would be greatly appreciated, thanks folks.

Also since I am here, I might as well post one of my setups :D

I had an ST and later a Mega ST4 (always thought that needed 'ultra' in its name). But never had one with those extra 3 buttons on the right. My curiosity is piqued - what are they?

That STe has been customised my me. The buttons control the selection of disk image files stored on an internal SDHC drive which replaced the standard floppy disk drive. Currently that STe has over 2500 games installed. The LCD screen above the buttons displays what image is selected in addition to an on screen display too before booting into the game. :)

Here is two more pictures showing the SDHC drive and the on screen display for selecting image files.

You can use these drives in just about anything that used a floppy drive originally, older PCs, Amigas, C64s, Spectrums ect.

Very sweet, Geraldine!

It's great to see such old tech still finding uses today ... not entirely a throw-away society :)

Sadly my STs went a long time ago, sold to fund other things, but I remember them fondly and it's safe to say my experiences with the OS on them got me in to Macs and, effectively, my role as a creative art worker since that far back there were no training courses or anything. Macs were too new!
