Show Us Your Setup

I enjoy both flight/space sims and driving sims so I wanted to build a rig where I could switch between the 2 without too much hassle.

It's not perfect but I think it does the job reasonably well.

The pods on the side are modular, the controls are built into shelves that slide into the pods and are then locked into place. No tools required and takes about 20 seconds a side.

The side pods will also rotate back to allow ease of entry/exit and the keyboard tray is on an articulating arm that will slide under the wheel deck.

I did make one big mistake though, NO CUPHOLDERS!

Currently trying to see where I can implement one.

Thanks for looking!
Very cool. Is that a custom setup, or commercial?

All these cool setups and here I am playing with an Xbox controller strapped to my chair with a shoelace + a flight stick.

I'm even ashamed to share pictures :D

Man cave cockpit

Hi fellow CMDR's. I'm quite new to the forums but I gathered my courage and decided to take part in this thread. I mentioned in my introduction post that I’m currently playing Elite with devices I could not have dreamed of as a kid, back in the year -85. I wanted share my setup and ask for feedback from fellow commanders and cockpit builders.

I’m lucky to have been able to build my own little man cave slash cockpit in our basement. This is the place where I get to take the precious pauses from all the worries at work and the duties of a father of two. Although the best moment was when my son tried ED for the first time, wearing DK2. He’s in about the same age that I was when I got introduced to C64 Elite.

PC & display:
Modern PC build (Win 10, SSD, overclocked MSI GTX 970)
46” Panasonic Infinite Black Plasma with custom backlight
Oculus Rift DK2 (loaned from my company for the time being)

Sound & shake:
5.1 Yamaha Surround amplifier
2 x Dynaudio Audience 42W speakers
2 x Monacor Bass Rocker BR-25 (installed to my chair)

Peripherals:
EDTracker Pro (on a baseball cap)
Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS (installed to the table)
Nexus 7 tablet running my own custom Roccat Power-Grid
SteelSeries Rival mouse
Razer BlackWidow keyboard
Fuj:tech MIC-205 for VoiceAttack & Voice comms

I’d be happy hear any suggestions how to improve my setup.

PS. I also want thank the community. I’ve found tons of useful information in this forum for EDTracker, DK2 and basically everything related to my project.

Nice setup ColossalCosci. Not sure I'd hot button "Eject Cargo" and have it that close to "Deploy Heatsink" especially if wearing the rift. A half inch error and you lose everything.

my third sim rig - first one was 12 yrs ago...

these pics aren't great but shows my setup.

Custom built desk. PC built into the left side.

42" HDTV (older one not new)
Saitek X52 HOTAS and Rudder pedals
Logitech G13 gamepad on the left
8" Android tablet running Roccat Powergrid on the right
Modified a racing seat with speakers and shakers from a gaming chair (and extra padding LOL)

Whole setup in inside a semi-isolation booth I built for recording music in a few years back but now just use for gaming :)

Above me: Looking good! Thinking about a tablet with power grid too.

Nice ambient lighting. And I think you have just convinced me that I need a 34" 21:9 :)

Thx! ;)
I mounted the LED stirpes behined the display so the wall was lit too. But removed it because I prefer it dark on top of the display.

21:9 is perfect for E: D (and any other simulation or game). It adds so much to the immersion, it's like a windshield. Also wasn't sure about "curved" but this is a great feature. And this size works really great with headtracking.
It's a Dell U3415W revision A01 and there is almost zero backlight bleed, basically non existent. 5ms/8ms is fast enough.
Feel free to ask if you have a question. :)

thx! I like powergrid but it is lacking in the tactile dept. Nothing like flipping a switch or pushing a button and having the game/sim respond. I got tired of having to change out my panels in my old cockpit rigs any time I changed games/sims. Now I shouldn't have to change any hardware if I want to switch to a different game.

Wow! Good job there! Impressive and looks really comfortable! ;)

...And another satisfied 21:9 user. :D

Thanks CMDR, it was a lot of fun to put together! 21:9 for Elite is glorious! You can see so much more cockpit! Throw in the ED Headtracker, and you really got it goin' on!
