Shows and Entertainers? or Vandalism?

One thing we havent seen yet are any entertainers or shows. I remember when Planco first launched, they held a contest for members to design their own entertainers, and Frontier picked the TikiChiki mascot to add into the game! Maybe some of the entertainers in Plazoo will be the same from Planco, but which kind of mascots would work well with a zoo?

besides just basic animal costumes, I always liked the Pirate from Planco, maybe something like Tarzan? Snakehandlers? Man with beard of bees? Face painters? I know the mascots are usually tied to the shops/restaurants so Im sure they have some good stuff coming :)

Or how about shows like lion tamer, dolphin trainer, or crocodile hunter? and places where guests can hold birds or maybe even petting areas

I also wonder if vandalism will work the same as in Planco, or if it will be a bit more advanced with like poachers or something?

Most of the ideas you named (snakecharmer, lion tamer, beard of bees) are exploitative to animals at best and most are down-right abusive. Would you also like to see some bear baiting, or how about a bestiarii show in a mini Colosseum? These kind of side shows have no place in a modern zoo, which is the central tenet of Planet Zoo.
Modern zoos do often have education animals that will walk among the public or use as a focal point for educational talks about and then allow people to interact with. Free-flight demonstrations are another good example. However I doubt we will be seeing this in Planet Zoo (there does not appear to be any mechanism for offshow animals, animal training, specially-designated hand-raised animals, etc). Maybe in a DLC way down the road.

P.S. Why would there be a pirate in a zoo? Have you ever seen any of these "ideas" implemented? Tarzan? Besides the obvious copyright infringement as a zoo-goer I would just be baffled and then disgusted by such patronizing ploys. Let the animals be the stars. If people need more brash entertainment than that to keep them entertained then maybe they should have gone to an amusement park.

I would definitely love to see animal shows in planet zoo! I don't think that would be a problem... :)
I'm sure theres not gonna be shows with animals in this game. There was a lot of controversy about that in real life too.
Dude, you say with your own mouth, you say "real life." This is the game world. it has nothing to do with real life.
I know it is controversial in real life but this game. So what can you expect. I really want to see the shows, especially with the sea animals... :) 🤤
we had completely finished this discussion. the frontier will make this decision. whether or not demonstrations, we will play this game after all.

@VetGirl330 - I was just kinda joking about the beard of bees, i get that pirates are not really a zoo thing, but there are parks like Disneys Animal Kingdom with a wide variety of interactive exhibits, and Im pretty sure the older zoo tycoon games had entertainers, its just a game and you can always choose to not use them if you wish.

As for lion fighting with swords, I dont think thats the same as lion tamers or crocodile wrestling. This game is about creativity and it would be cool to see people create some circus inspired parks, if you look at what people have done with Planco its not always about coasters, so theres no reason to be hostile against outside of the box ideas. Theres a really cool place in Florida called Gator Land with many of the things I've mentioned and none of the animals are in any danger, its a wonderful place and I'd like to see Plazoo include a restaurant that serves gator just like in real life!

exactly! this is a game. :)
you're free to do what you want in this game. you do not have to perform in your park. if you don't keep them in your park, the problem will be solved. :)

Well for me personally of course that won't stop me to play the game, but just I don't think they are for animal shows in this game. Simple as that.

I think it should be added to the game. Because I really want to. Frontier will make decision. And he will surely think of both sides.
But if there's no show, I'll be disappointed. All I want is sea shows. I really want to. I trust Frontier.

I'm not a fan of animal "shows".

I'd like "animal natural behaviour" demonstrations please.

No jumping through rings and such. That's dumb.

The kind of 'entertainers' I really would like to see are tour guides or more loosely just knowledgeable people for the visitors to talk to.
Some smaller versions of shows would be cool like air shows (which I doubt will even have a place in the main game) but a public feeding already could be neat.

I second this.

As for poachers? In a Zoo game? Nah.

Correct me when I'm wrong, but there are no entertainers in PZ.

And since it's a game about animal welfare and modern zoos I highly doubt we will see any kind of controversial animal shows.
Tour guides, air shows or public feedings on the other hand would be a nice addition!

It's highly unrealistic that Frontier has any interest to invest time, work and money into a feature that not only strives away from conservation to exploitation, but will also lead to a lot of unwanted controversy. I mean it would be pretty hypocritical to promote your game to be about all that conservation and wellbeing stuff, but then also implement a feature for animal stunts for the sheer amusement of your guests. It's the exact opposite, so please don't be disappointed if they don't implement something that doesn't fit with their big selling point.

There are demonstrations in the modern zoo. go search some.
Yes...? I didn't say something else...?

There is a difference between shows for the purpose of entertainment with lots of unnatural animal-behavior and shows for educational purposes focused around natural behavior and medical treatment.

An elephant posing on his hind legs is nothing I want or would expect in the game.
An elephant lifting his legs so they can get inspected from the vet is a whole other thing.

But you know, I don't want to convince you, just don't expect some kind of zircus show in a game focused around animal welfare.

hey dude I agree with you about it. I'm really against these. I misunderstood you. these movements are no different from the circus. I was talking about sea animals. sorry :)
I certainly do not want circuses and circus movements. but there may be demonstrations like this. There is no unnatural movement here.

To be honest, I don't like the video.
Tigers don't belong on a leash and the big crocodile at the end... it just looks unsafe for no other purpose than entertainment.

At the end of the day, these are dangerous and wild animals. What happens, if one of the tigers bites a keeper or get startled and runs in some guests?
Direct interaction with dangerous animals should be kept to the bare necessities.
A lot of zoos don't even handle elephants in direct contact anymore, because every year there are a few incidents.

Modern Zoos should be a safe place - for the animals, guests and keepers.

these are really nonsense. those animals are protected there. that is, will it prevent you from playing the game? no. What is the problem then? As someone who wanted shows, I told him that frontier should share shows as mod.
You also said "too much unwanted". I also see that there are many more who want a show in the game.

I just want to explain why it doesn't make a lot of sense. If Frontier would have shown animal shows from the very beginning, and never strictly advertised it beeing all about conservation and education, than it still would have got the usual controversy but everyone would have been aware of what kind of zoo game PlanZoo is going to be.

But since they advertised it as such, from the very beginning till now, surely a lot of people of course assume that Frontier is honest about that aspect and don't want to lead it ad absurdum. If this is the case, how exactly can one explain how the attempt to offer your animals a mostly natural life while they stay in the zoo, and useless animal shows that force your animals to do useless stunts that don't serve any purpose other then to squeeze a little bit of extra money out of the guests fit together.

Now think about it, if the devs would throw in animal shows out of the nothing, just short before or when the game releases, don't you think many people would raise their eyebrows? Why did they talk about to keep your animals as natural as possible, just to rush your tiger through a burning ring and other impossible situations for wildlife?

Why spend time and money that could be used for parts of the game that fit with its theme, just to risk to get a backlash from the community for something that was never mentioned before and especially conflicting with their selling point?

The problem here is not that we could get some surprising extra features, but that all the stuff they talked about, to keep the animals healthy and away from stress would dissolve into thin air.

Chapeau, I think this is the best explanation I read so far and a very good effort in explaining yours and subsequently my thoughts.
Better than "Dude, I want it, so shut up".

A further explanation:

I don't want to sound like a content denier, and yes, this is "just a game", but it has a specific promise, and no one can tell if animals are ok about to do all that show stuff. And how much can they make use of it, when they are released into the wild? I mean we don't have to, but the devs and the game surely want to encourage us to do so, and what can wild animals learn from those shows? Because if it's meant to entertain them, than there surely are better ways, such as things they can do on their free will, when they want to do it. Just like in nature.
