Simple Guide for Unlocking all of the Guardian Tech

Why can't I just join the military and fight Thargoids?

This times a million. Much as I love this game, I just can't be bothered with this bit of it either. The whole Thargoid thing needs a rebalance I think. They should be everywhere, with the chance of meeting them increasing towards the Pleiades etc. but anyone should be able to fight them. It should be a tough fight, but possible with normal weapons and enough skill, and the Guardian stuff should just make it easier.

This should also go in-line with an overhaul of military missions. There should be a tab within the Missions Board similar to what existing within FE2 with missions of increasing difficulty dependant upon your rank, all the way up to assassinations, attacking Thargoids in particular systems and surveillance and ground attacks against facilities. They could even loan you weapons for a mission (such as providing a weapon that temporarily replaces a hardpoint of your choosing for the duration. ie give me back my nuclear missiles!)

Looking at your materials grid, I see you have a row for Guardian Module Blueprint Segment, but you don't have one for Guardian Weapon Blueprint Segment. You've got them all along one row.
Only the first 6 use the Module Blueprint Segment, the rest use the Weapon Blueprint Segment.

All this writing about point defence on top of my ship - are there any other recommendations on ship configuration?
I mean can I take an explorer ASP or should I consider weaponry and heavy shields and stuff?

I recommend a DBX - it can land inside most of the Structures sites I found, and any standard exploration build will do fine - though I would have a small shield generator as well. You don’t really NEED the point Defense, it just makes it easier to fight the sentinels. You don’t need weapons on your ship, the weapons in the SRV are good enough.

I've seen an Anaconda parked adjacent to the module site, so it must be possible in any ship once you find the right parking space.

The Point Defence is very useful for preventing too many Sentinel missiles raining down on you.

Another tip ... if you drive slowly towards the sentinel firing at you, it will not be able to turn your SRV over. Keep 3 or full pips to shields and use the remaining pips to supply your weapons to fire back from the turret.

Had some fun covering my buddy with an SLF.
Here are all the pylons active and me just waiting for friend to land before I activate the orb thing.

Doesn't look simple to me. Looks overly complicated. Not the guide, the requirements.

All you “need” is an srv. The rest is just very helpful.
Remember though (because I forgot but had the simple mats so it was OK) that srv does not restock amo by docking with mothership (because FD aren’t always the brightest):

10 minute run of the Guardian weapon blueprint.

Not the tidiest. People could probably go round faster if they have better SRV handling abilities.

Thanks for this thread and the contributions to it.
I fitted a DBX this weekend and got my FSD booster in no time :D
Which was all I wanted for now...

Why? Whats to say it wouldn't take alien tech to beat an alien race?

Just completed my first run-through of the weapon site. Cost me one of my SRVs when I somehow ended up wedged against an obelisk upside down and could NOT get free. Had to self destruct it [haha]

Dizzy B High (OP), thanks for the quick guide. Wasn't nearly as bad as I had thought with this help. As for all the people who don't want to do it at all, well, I wouldn't want to do it 100 times, but once certainly wasn't bad, esp considering how much I had to still figure out (how to fully charge, tactics against the sentinels, etc.). All in all, very glad I finally did it.

It's "swings and roundabouts".

Every Guardian module you unlock is pretty-much the equivalent of an engineered alternative.
Except that you can just buy a Guardian module and bung it on your ship without having to spend time collecting mat's and going to an engineer to get it upgraded.

Well worth the effort (especially the FS Booster, the PP and the PDist) IMO. [up]
