As advertised on Beth's skyrim homepage, but I find the date limit unclear; whether I needed to own all DLC before the deadline to get SE for free (which I didn't).strange I got Skyrim SE for free becuase I already had Skyrim and all DLC.

I appreciate the help! Should I answer "yes" to replace the 500+ files that are duplicates in the SKSE64 zip file?

Perfect! I'm getting close, but I keep getting interrupted by my day job...Yes, although that indicates that you already had installed it corrently in the first atempt... (it seems to be replacing itself).
You should now have a skse_loader.exe file alongside SkyrimSE.exe in the same "Skyrim Special Edition" directory. You should start the game once with "SkyrimSE.exe" to create the config/settings files, then exit the game and from there on always start the game using skse_loader.exe. If the game loads fine, tou can proceeed with the rest of your mods.
Update: The game is running fine with most of my mods. SkyUI had to be reinstalled for some reason. Wearable Lanterns (SSE) simply doesnt work in SSE so I'm back to using torches the old fashioned way. It says there's something wrong with permissions, but I find that hard to believe since all of the other configurable mods work fine. Also, I'm disappointed with the hair in SSE, which looks just like the haystack hair of Classic Skyrim. I'll have to fix that again.Yes, although that indicates that you already had installed it corrently in the first atempt... (it seems to be replacing itself).

The default hair is hard to look at. Apparently, the only improvement with SE is run stability. Silly me I thought there were some graphical improvementsTo be honest I don't even remember how the default hairs (or even the default NPCs) look
Fist things I always do when starting a new mod build, is replacing textures, npcs, water, weather and lighting.
