Proposal Discussion -SLAVES in ED universe-

I can confirm that "Slaves" containers look just like any other.

Scooped them, sold them, made a stiff profit.

Yeah I just got some last night after I attacked a pirate ship, I had though they weren't in the game yet.

having said that were can you buy slaves, I haven't seen them at any stations?

I want to become the biggest b#astard in the universe:(

I will one up your efforts and "free" a slave by jettisoning him into space and then shooting the can. Now to find a hauler with some slaves to steal...

As others have said above, there's much more coming in the area of slaves, but this applies to all commodities: http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6299

Some will require dedicated equipment, to avoid spoiling/contaminating the goods. It actually seems like most of the currently traded goods won't be that easily transported in the future once all of that is implemented, which applies to slaves, which are supposed to be on life-support racks.

And then there's also wrongly named containers, so you could smuggle slaves inside of containers labelled "Beer". I'm wondering how exactly could this be detected by law enforcement, and if cargo scanning will extend to the specialized equipment, because "beer" on a life-support rack would definitely appear suspicious.

They should think themselves lucky, 100 years ago (FE2) you had to have a cargo bay life support, and it was not unusual for commanders to forget this fact and set off from a planet with an atmosphere, and arrive with a bay full of 'fertilzer' also when travel took up to a month back then you can imagine how that smelled...

That was the same in the original Elite too :)
Good for the roses I suppose.

In there ?

Oh yeah! 11,000 credits a pop! My favourite pastime at the moment is blowing up wanted commanders with my Cobra (preferably Haulers and Lakons) and then salvage the cargo they jettison sometimes in a feeble attempt to lose me. Or perhaps I destroyed their cargp hatch. I always smile in delight when a ship drops battle weapons, consumer electronics or even... well... slaves. :D

Of course scooping up the latter is not an evil smuggling act but a rescue operation. I can't leave them floating in space until the containers blow up, now, can I? And since I have to cover my search and rescue costs I have no choice but to sell them to a good samaritan who takes care of them. :D

As an Englishman I would be interested to know more about the toilet facilities in these slave carrying cannisters.

Hopefully at some point there will be the added risk of a malfunctioning canister triggering an Amistad-style uprising.

Slaves and Slavers

Hi everyone!

I was doing a bit of reading on slaves and the slave trade - I found a wealth of material in the design proposals and this is something I want to be actively involved in when the game goes live.

So far, I've been actively trying to hunt / find slaves to free, I've not found any at all (or at least from the space scrap remains of traders). Can anyone share if they have:

1. Found any slaves (and can recommend me to this area)
2. Freed the slaves in some spaceport?
3. Or let them expire in your cargo hold

I'm guessing that the more elaborate mechanics such as health of slaves and releasing them in port is not implemented yet, but would appreciate any information on this!

I've not heard mention of any slaves at any stage of development yet, and they don't actually show up on the list of commodities.

So it's virtually certain they're not implemented yet.

Edited to add: Oh, ok, I'm wrong... what do I know?? :p

You can find them by pirating traders and letting them dump cargo.
They currently work like any other ware.

There's going to be several kinds of slaves. Thse ones are cryogenically frozen and basically treated as wares by those who allow slave trade (or atleast those who do not stop it). I don't think there are more features waiting to be implemented with these, they are in cryo-sleep and don't need supplies.

In the Empire, slaves have a pretty high status and Imperial Slaves will be handled like passengers.

I know traders at Eranin Nav Beacon drop them, not sure where else they are available, if anywhere.

Maybe Empire is secretly shipping in soldiers to help fight off the Feds trying to squash Eranian Independence movement. ;)

A player attacked me for carrying slaves, he sent a message - 'you dirty slaver'.

It was absolutely brilliant, at the time I didn't know there were cargo scanners in the game.

I ran.
