So, after watching The Mandalorian (no spoilers)....

.....I really hope The New Era expands on Bounty Hunting in Elite Dangerous. We need tracker limpets which can attach themselves into ships, tip-offs about where bounties were last seen, and the ability to walk around nuPlanets (using that new planetary terrain system previously scheduled for Beyond Chapter 4), into outposts/installations and to shoot the crap out of everything collect the bounty - dead or alive.

If alive, we need those long talked about but still invisible prisoner cells, so we can secure the criminal scum into our ships before transporting them safety to the courts of law, without incident. And for times when there are incidents during transport, well, I guess that's what the fragment cannons are for.

Also, some unique loot which can only be acquired from bounty hunting would be great, too. Along with cool helmets. (y)

We actually already have bounty tracking. Theres this little known thing in the station menu called "top bounties". It will tell you who has the highest bounty, what his bounty is, what ship hes flying and what its name is, and where he is. People just dont use it because its in the "stastion news" section of the station menu.

It's also only for hunting down other players, who might just be hanging out in solo or even offline at the time...

and we definitely need the lasso and rope mechanics from RDR2.. ;)

Yeah, in theory.

During the time it takes you to fly to a station, dock and read the bounty board, your target could have traveled another 1k lys. Let alone game modes and instancing.

Oh, and the bounty reward cap. You wouldn't even get paid the actual bounty's value.
 
Bounty hunting and pirate gameplay needs a massive overhaul and 2020 needs to deliver it.

LOL! This was an email to some friends of mine (who had already given up with ED) when asteroid stations were released:-

These are the hub of all the new piracy mechanics where you can build up a piracy reputation and in turn gain access to these hidden nefarious location. You can then obtain new challenging piracy based missions and access to more rewarding black markets etc.

Oh! I misread the release notes... They're just like normal stations...

And this is true of sooooo very much of the core gameplay... The core gameplay is in dire need of additonal, deeper layers of joined up mechanics...
