So Commander, what are You doing during the current limbo period while waiting on news from FD?

So there I was happily trucking a 16T load of Cargo Harvesters to LHS 3447 last night, in my humble little Adder. Visited the Commodity Market to sell them for the 512 Cr/t profit i was due to make, and then suddenly I found myself caught up in all the transaction server weirdness. 3-4 attempts to sell my cargo, where suddenly ED claimed i had 48 of them squeezed into my 16T hold (don't think I am flying the Tardis!). A few logoff/on's trying to figure it out, and then i come here to find its not just me. Well, I ended up making an unexpected additional 488,000 CR - enough to get the Cobra I have slowley been working towards. So did I do it? No, actually I went to sleep on it and came back this morning to see what has been going on. In the end I ended up submitting a ticket along the lines of "hey, i've ended up with all these extra credits because of the issues. I'm cool with it if you let me keep them, but I understand if not!".

Which leaves a small dilema. What to do in ED while the issues are being fixed?

Not sure I trust trading at the moment. I have also not submitted to temptation and upgraded myself to a Cobra (oh so very tempting). If FD decide to remove the unexpected/ill-gotten CRs from players, then I should not end up out of pocket (hopefully).

For now I have decided to simply try some exploring, flying off into the void and see what I can find. May end up with some legitimate CRs from cartography at the end of all this. And I am also testing out ditching the joystick and learning not to crash-land with KBM (a major reason for switching to joystick in the first place).

So what are the rest of you doing during this time of uncertainty?

edit: I should add that while i only did the sell/logoff/logon cycle 3 or 4 times (late night, beer, cannot remember exactly), the math of getting 488,000 CR from a phantom 48 cargo harvesters was also wildly off. At the normal 512 CR/t i have been making from those that amount of credits would have needed 20 cycles of 48 items to be (re)sold (~953 Tonnes). I certainly did not spam that cycle 20 times!

edit 2: Hmm, actually breaking out the calculator if those crop harvesters were totally "free" and sold 100% profit at 2554 CR:- 488000 CR / 2554 CR = 191 Tonnes of 100% profit crop harvesters. Using the magical 16T hold that could hold 48T of goods: 191T / 48T = 3.97 (call it 4) cycles of (re)selling the items at 100% profit. Okay - that matches the number of times I actually went through the process! Given my original "seed cargo" of 16 Crop Harvesters before all this started: 488000 CR / 16T = 30500 CR/t profit - Thats an awesome trade route! Can we keep it? :D

Everything is pretty smooth for me OP, my commiserations that you are one of the unlucky ones.

How about a spot of bounty hunting? Ive an Adder also and it packs a decent punch for its size.

When I came here before loading Elite last night I saw the uproar and decided to do something else for the evening. I'll log in to Elite in a bit and see what it's like.

The usual - same as if nothing had happened. Glitches and hitches don't bother me.

I approve of this attitude. Have rep.

After pressing red button labeled "Self-destruct" everything works ok for me, but i can't be bothered to play anymore. MS Flight Simulator X is on sale for £3.99 so i give it a go.

I'll try to play ED once I get back home from work. If that isn't possible, I'll try one of the five games I bought yesterday from the Steam sale :).

I did two hours of conflict zone missions in Ho Hsi.

I then flew to Lave, Leesti, Zaonce and close-by systems, and bought 32 tonnes of Rare Goods.

Flew to Karsinanari, 160 LY away. Met up with a mate who had just been smoked by an Elite Anaconda pirate lord ship, and gave him 5 tonnes of the good stuff, to help ease the pain.

Sold the rest, and we moved on to have some fun dropping into USS, and following each others' FSD wakes.

After he logged off, I flew to Lugh, where I plan on causing trouble. ;)

I played MMOs from 1997 to around 2012, and I've experienced so many server issues and rollbacks and downtime that it's just par for the course.

I mean, look what happened to both Sony and Microsoft over Christmas! Online completely unavailable due to children DDOSing their servers. Sony. Microsoft. Two of the largest corporations on the planet, and even they are at the mercy of online connectivity issues.

So yeah, it's just part and parcel of online gaming, and always will be.

Yup, I am small-fry compared to all the Millions+ CR people who lost loads, or had issues with buying ship upgrades that vanished. I ended up with a pile of extra credits, and my cargo hold is back to working normally (far as I can tell). So right now I am back to a functional state, unlike many with locked up cargo holds. I also did not choose to intentionally exploit the issue when I hit it last night. Some people made millions I think.

So for now I am just playing safe and am waiting for the "all clear" whenever that comes. If I still have that extra pile of credits available, then "Hello Cobra!" :)

And a little bounty hunting is good practice as well.

What am I doing? I'm converting my 3x5 card note taking into an Android smartphone app - where I've been, what I bought and sold and other interesting bits + pieces. Meanwhile I'm milking a nice little space trucking gig hauling scrap between 2 stations in the same system and when bored, running Gold between 2 systems making over 20k profit per round trip.
