So, frame-rates since the patch, how are yours?

yeah, I think there's more random micro-judder just wandering around now, feels like you're pulling up to stop. And the usual 0 FPS on disembark they introduced in patch 7 is still there. Which is a shame as I'm still getting ok FPS otherwise 🤷‍♀️
Oh yeah, I had that too. I saw the 35 fps at the CZ, so I turned the ship around, pressed my boost and.. 12,7,5,2,2,2,2,5,6,47. That was.. trippy. Something clearly went wrong.

The first small settlement I just visited performed significantly better on High settings (no downscaling), but it is still quite inconsistent. The weirdest thing I just noticed are small "pockets" of the settlement grounds (not the interiors) where I get significantly better FPS, yet if I move two meters forward it plummets again. In one of the cases I was nearly out of the settlement and moving towards the landing pad, so there's no significant LOD popping in visibly or behind the scenes. I think.

im getting the same too! although mine drops as low as <10 fps when firing thrusters on a settlement 🤷‍♂️ even turning makes it lag so much.

I'm using a similar setup. Are you getting dips into the 30s just walking around, or only during the initial loading?
It happens when I walk around the settlements. And the dips seem to be at the same places.
I can be outside with some buildings in my FOV and I get 30-40 FPS. Then I move around, get 70-90 FPS but when I return to the same spot I get a dip again.
When I leave the settlement completely (drive off for example) I get my usual 90 FPS like on any other empty planet.

Concourses never get over 80 FPS.

Did FD actually do anything, to me it looks like they just added emotes as everything else is about the same.
Judging from the thread, it seems a sizeable number of people are reporting improvements, so there does appear to be hope, just not for you and me :D (Yet, there's always hope)

I've just experienced something decidedly odd, i'm in the Shinrarta Desra parking area, hung around there for about 10 minutes, changed ship to my dolphin (which incidently, the taxi paintjobs are finally fixed), and frames per second went down to around 25, from the previous 40-50 i had before, and stayed that way. I logged out of the game and exited the program completely, reloaded, and framerate is backup to the 50's. I have no idea what's going on.

Look at my reply to Rubbernuke on the first page, linked to another thread with similar issues. Only fix for those affected seems to be to relog.

Well, it feels like the underlying performance on the surface of bodies (surface ports and settlements) has improved in the range of 10-20 FPS on 1060 Ti/High (no downscaling)/1080p, but it's still very inconsistent due to the other factors like the amount of NPCs, certain assets (extraction lasers), et cetera.

Apart from that it feels like very little has changed.

Up to this update I could play with no major problems everywhere with an exception of some surface CZs that dipped into sub 20 frames. Now settlements stutter all over the place. Frames are a bit improved overall, but that's pointless with this stutterfest. Taking a break while they (try to) sort this out.

At best I'm noticing a 5-10 FPS improvement in settlements and at the concourse. It seems very inconsistent now though, and can often actually be worse than before the update to be honest. I'll have to play more and get a better feel for it.

It does look better visually overall, I have definitely noticed improvement there, it seems crisper and less glitchy looking with lighting and textures, shadows etc. Unfortunately just not so much in performance which was supposedly the big one with Update 8.

Small improvements in settlements maybe an increase of 10/15 fps from 30fps single screen 1440p
Same kind of increase with triple screen of 10/15fps from 20fps at 7680x1440p
All normal scaler

The testament to the game at least from me, is that despite the low FPS i'm experiencing i'm still wanting to play and give myself a motion-sickness headache for the privilege. There are some truly stunning moments, and in classic ED style they happen when i'm least expecting them. Not necessarily during dog-fghts or base missions, but those quiet moments where you suddenly realise the stunning beauty of the image in front of you and a sense of awe creeps in. I'm glad the game can still do that to me, but i don't think i'll ever play it properly again as i did Horizons, until i have a new gaming rig, that's the gut-feeling i'm getting after the elapsed time since the release. I'm not sure that there's any knobs left to twiddle on the developer's end.

Im getting 70-100+ in Concourse at a space Outpost (have not tested a station) - before i used to have 55-65
Getting 60+ fps in a Settlement, but still got a deep fps dive at touch down. Not to 1-2 fps as in U7, but to about 10-12 fps for like 10s. Then up to 60+
70-90 while approaching a planet, some fps drop to 30-40 at supercruise > glide transition, then back to 70+

ryzen 9 5900hx, rtx 3080 (laptop), all ultra / ultra+ with terrain work bar set to maximum, 1080p, no fsr/cas, supersampling 1.0
