So lets get this straight.. Our commander names are no longer unique?

So I'm out exploring and come across a system I have yet to visit, only to find that I have actually visited it, because its got my name on it, even though I've never been there before.

Our commander name identifies us in the game.. This is idiotic. [wacko]

I'd rep this, except Cosmos is Banned/Suspended.

This sentence haha.

Also I'm not I'm merely pointing out why he blocked you. take it as advice. not criticism. Although I'm sure to you they're one in the same.
Advice only works when what is suggested isn't "silly". If I want to call out silly things I will. I'd put suicide jokes under the "silly" things category.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they saw players being able to use an ingame name other than their Microsoft Xbox Live Gamertag™ as a threat to some part of their business model.

.
Elder scrolls online and Dark souls 3 both use gamertags and usernames....as does Neverwinter. That is just off the top of my head.

Seeing PC players make stuff up like that on the spot though is amusing.

*edit looks like the whole forum put Cosmos on their block list. Good thing he blocked me lol

Still not sure what all the fuss was about, or how that was even possible. Since the two platforms are separate, how would a PC player be able to interact with the Xbox universe, and vice versa?

That said, the easy solution that seems to be the norm now days is he'd simply be Cosmos#836 and see the system was surveyed by Cosmos#9575.

Please note how I said it wouldn't surprise me; not that they necessarily did.

I'll avoid making a countersnipe about console gamers here.

Sounds like you guys should have thought of that when you started thinking of porting the game to consoles.
Except it is not a big deal nor are two people ever likely to meet like that.

Even if it did happen if anything people should rejoice that such a event with such a miniscule probability of happening happened at all.

It wouldn't be a deal at all if they had thought about thus before porting. I can see how this could cause problems on a DB shared by all version.

Agreed.

I'm lucky though. Crusina is a name nobody but me uses really. 48 million people on Xbox Live and nobody took it or on any other game I have played and used it.

I also use A Fhaol Bhig, and Tegernako which again nobody really uses.

If you google Crusina Luachra all you get is me really lol

I support an indicator saying Xbox or PC myself.

I've had people take my name on other games, game forums, and perhaps social media platforms intentionally as well to spite me, if not worse – sorry for party rockin'. "WR3ND" can't be that common, which is one of the reasons I chose it in the first place.

This is a potential issue, IMO...

I don't think telling you not to get your knickers in a twist over a joke in a game Forum is "silly" advice.

But whatever, if you want to call out "silly" things. go ahead. If I want to make funny jokes at others expense, I will.

Do you like...have proof for that?

I suppose if you live an ignorant life you would not understand why it is not that funny to mock suicidal people because you find it funny. I have seen people intentionally try and make others commit suicide by harassing them, knowing perfectly well what their state of mind is. To say that it was disgusting is a understatement, they found it funny, hilarious that they could potentially make someone do that. And they did it because they despised the fact that the people they targeted existed.

You will have have to excuse me for not finding it as funny as you do because of experiences like that. Life is full of things you "can" do but should not do just because you can.

Also I never said you "could" not say any of that, that is an arguement you made up. I just critisized it the usage of it. Me calling something out is not the same as me saying "you can not do this". Of course I am suggesting you should not say that, but that is a request not a demand. As you so eloquently whined about, you are allowed to find telling someone to jump of a building funny just as I am allowed to call you out on it.

But ultimitely this is pointless to discuss here and the mods do not need me to continue this line of thought publically. You have a problem PM me. Otherwise pull a Cosmos and shoo.

I made a Character in WoW way back when (way way) and it is still mine (except when I allow my nephew to use it /transfer). Now with HearthStone, now so much, everybody has a uid number and in-game Names can be duplicated.
Take your pick.

How? What could they do to you on the xbox version?

They did. And they sorted it. They're not idiots. Although they should hire you for your insight.

"if they have the same name it might cause a DB problem! "

FD: "Yeh, Gary. We Uh. Yeh we know that, it's basic database management. We've sorted it though, every xbox player is marked as such so they're distinct"

"But someone might take my name and my identity! We need to fight back! Add 'minor citizen' to their names!"

Fd: "Shut up, Gary."
