So, now that a decision on consoles has been made: Roadmap?

We should hit that time of the year where they make an official post about how they didn't communicate enough in the past, how they are truly sorry, and how they swear they will communicate a lot more.
The roadmap should happen then, and will likely look like :
Soon // Later on// By the end of the year
patches------->patches--------->more patches

I think we'll be lucky to get any information because when the decision was announced last week, and since, no detail has been provided; probably because there is no detail.

This from another thread:
Well your feelings about the game might be one thing Mr Braben but that helps no one who has been impacted by your decision.

How about providing specific detail for console players about:

1. What can be expected for console support for EDH into the future knowing we can't have Odyssey on consoles.
2. What migration to PC is possible for console players who wish to do so.

Your feelings don't count for much when the money is coming out of other people's wallets. FD should provide specific detail about what they can, cannot and won't do for console players.
No initiative from FD. The road map is probably scribbled on the staff toilet wall (second stall from the left).

The least they could do is return with the periodic "developer updates" that ceased in October, alongside with the "Issue Tracker Report" that has been on a similar hiatus.

We've lost all the improved communications Frontier has committed to last year, and so far this silence has only led to their major announcement being a reduced workload by ditching the console community.

My dad always used to complain that there were only three hours a day to make business with them. Three in the morning due to the time differences and none in the afternoon as they were all in meetings.. Don't know how true this is, so no intention of slandering a nation! :D
Your prolly not wrong but it works the other way to, i used to work for a global company based in California, getting any communication from them in a meaningful time was well ......... a waste of time.
And yes some of the buggers used to ring me at 3 or 4 in the morning, they got what they deserved!

They aint going to do a roadmap.
Why?
Because unless its down to what they are doing every minute of the day some folks wont be happy.
Hell i bet some buggers would want CCTV access to see what Devs are working on?

If they came up with a loose roadmap many on here who are just in the 'lets slag um off mindset' would take every opportunity to pick holes if a deadline was over by 5 minutes.
They wouldn't be able to win (look at Scam Citizen), why should they put themselves through something like that? (minus the 4billion whatever quid).

Me, i don't care, let stuff happens when it happens, im in no rush.

I mean, with that kind of roadmap :

"Many improvements and fixes !"

You are not really informative. This is barely better than having no roadmap.

Now that FD has decided that they simply cannot shoehorn Odyssey into a Console environment, since that's what has been holding progress up all these months, there should be no more reason for any delay in progress of the storyline that has been teased to us for the last several months, i.e., signals being sent to a star system in the COL 70 sector, Thargoid things getting loose in ships, etc, on-foot combat with them and so on.

There should be more types of atmospheric planets, gas giants (with space whales), water worlds (with ships diving into the water visiting underwater bases). All that practice with Planet Zoo with animated creatures should have prepared everyone for animated creatures on distant worlds by now. You know how to make them walk and act, just put a new skin on them and make them very hungry for brains, etc. We have plants now. Nature needs balance. Things need to eat those plants. Maybe might want to try the power cables on the ship and see what they taste like. Could get dicey. Hell, it SHOULD get dicey.

All plants and space creatures could be sources of medicines or new materials, not just a "scan and sell the data."

Let's take it out of "park" and put it in "drive" again. Console users are being left out. Some will stay with Horizons, some will move on to other games, but some are thinking of moving to PC; all we ask is that you let us see that we have something to look forward to.

FD should release a Roadmap.

As always, just my 2¢, of course. And I should probably have put in "Open Letter to FD" at the start but I didn't want Bottom Hat's signal to switch on by accident.

Don’t hold your breath, they have no idea what a roadmap is beyond “buy Arx” and selling overpriced cosmetics.

We've had plenty of info on what's not happening, after update 11 (Carrier interiors) we have no info on what is still on the table.

Plans change, as long as any changes are communicated and ETAs revised I think it would be good to get a refresh of those early kickstarter 'promises'. If nothing else it would be something to discuss & theorycraft over :)

I stopped reading their patch notes around Update 8, but I always got a depressed kick out of the repetitive "many improvements and fixes" bullet point they always added to their notes. Because it was sufficiently vague that they didn't actually have to prove anything was fixed or improved.

I’m not bothered about a roadmap that much, it just leads to over hype, and a potential to miss soft deadlines. All is really like is some new ships or modules for ships.. for the SPACESHIP game I enjoy playing

I suppose, in my own convoluted way of putting it, I was doing a little bit of prodding at FD that there are no more excuses for holding things up. Like all of us in the private sector, I expect results. I don't always get them, but I expect them, non-the-less.

and yet FDev STILL released EDO in its amateurish state as finished DLC.

What really hurts is FDEV have done this once before: in fact they had it done to them. Gametek forced them to release Frontier: First Encounters before it was ready, and while it was full of bugs - to an arbitrary schedule. In fact it resulted in a lawsuit that Frontier won.

But Frontier managed to inflict this very same mistake on themselves by releasing Odyssey before it was ready, to an arbitrary release date! It's not like they have the excuse of perhaps not hearing about what happened to another development studio - they had been through it once before themselves, with the same CEO at the helm.

If getting to Cambridge wasn't such a massive undertaking from where I live, I would have been tempted to turn up at the shareholder's meeting (after all, I am one) and asked why they chose to do this and wreck their reputation amongst both their customers and investors simultaneously.
