So what are you hoping for on Wednesday's Stream?

I know we're probably not going to get anything huge (like ship interiors and we know that the planetary tech is staying as it is). However, I am hoping for ;-
  1. Confirmation that fdev is going to support and continue to develop for the game for quite a while.
  2. Continuing Galnet, CGs and ingame events after the Azimuth saga has finished.
  3. Continuing Bug Fixes.
  4. More space interactions to higher threat on-foot missions.
  5. Additional on-foot exploration mechanics.
  6. Alterations to C&P.
  7. Alterations to Engineering? (they did ask us ages ago).
  8. A new ship (and if there is there will probably be variants).
  9. Powerplay update (please, do something!)
I think everyone is expecting some form of thargoid on-foot combat at the end of the Azimuth saga.

Anything will do for me.
Anything except the shutdown announcement, of course

and yea

THinking about this, I don't really mind if their default stance is low comms. But I want to know what the year ahead looks like. Give us a high level roadmap that they are reasonably confident they can stick to, and then get on with it. Monthly or quarterly updates on the progress of the roadmap would be great. Give me confidence that there is a vision and that things are happening to progress the vision.
Agreed, comms for the sake of it because some get frustrated with the lack of it (although evidently the weekly stream doesn't count towards being regular comms) ends up with equal or more frustration of the 'nothing to announce' of no news, bonus being that it's also taken to mean doom.

"We want you to stream to us twice a week but we want every stream to be update-dense, and we want the updates to be what we say we want. Anything else is insufficient and heralds the death of the game." - The Community, probably.

EDH will be supported on the EDO 4.1 client. The FAKE EDH button will just run EDO client With the EDO only DLC disabled if you never paid for EDO... Exactly the same way EDH client ran a base game mode when you clickied the Fake ED base game button, the EDH client just disabed the EDH DLC content... EDO will have 3 fake mode buttons it will just disable DLC depending on the Button you select to launch...

It didn't quite work like that.

If you look at a landable planet with the base game versus Horizons (at least pre-base game and Horizons merge) you would notice they looked significantly different, it was entirely different rendering code.

This was partially done for technical reasons, because there were some machines (most notably, the Mac platform) that didn't have compute shaders, so the base game and Horizons had to necessarily have different render code bases.

This is no longer true once they merge Odyssey and Horizons so EDH players are using the same render code base as EDO players (with the exception they can't walk around).

At this point I'm just hoping that they won't kill/abandon any more features because they require work and that's hard.

Also hoping they don't pull something like what Overkill did with the Walking Dead game and just announce a new licensed game/tie in instead (but this is Elite news because you get a cosmetic item!)

I would really like to see a Trello board of features planned, in-progress and released. No time frames required, just an indication that they have an idea where they want the game to go. Absolutely no chance we will get it of course, and I fully expect there to be lots of "we're really excited about what is coming but can't talk about it yet" because senior management have a change of heart 10 minutes before the stream starts.

An announcement of a full revamp of all the undercooked ideas we've had over the years (MCrew CQC Fighters Powerplay Eng C&P etc) and a real fix of the oddity engine...

Oh and some actual stuff to find out in the black...
Also also VR support on foot ofc but the fps need to come first

I'm expecting some news regarding account transfers, hopefully that'll be put to rest tomorrow with a clear path forwards for those that want to migrate. Apart from that not all that much, hopefully some news about update 12 and that they've used the last few months to fix performance and squash bugs.

I suspect there will be some great stuff coming up that we can't talk about.

But a biggie would be if they would manage to put the "ed is dead" talk to an end (at least for a while).

In the interest of encouraging new players they need to give substantive evidence that the game will exist for 2+ years.

The player investment required in this game is so large its not worth it unless there is a strong indication the game is moving forward, or at the minimum will exist.

Edit:
A simple vague statement of "We aren't going anywhere, ED is secure... " would be awful. Because words mean nothing and that is an indication they have nothing but words. Substantial evidence would be "We have a dedicated team of 20 developers working on <specific new item>, scheduled to be released <timeframe>". Regardless of the item it would give me a feeling the game is moving fwd and no unspoken plan to drop it.

No no, all wrong. What we really need is for them to announce Twitch drops coming to in-game gameplay,
and advertisements that can be skipped after 5 seconds.
OR you can watch the ad in order to instantly speed up time to transfer modules to the station.
Oh and we need ads to randomly pop up on our HUD while flying and interrupt whatever you're doing.
And some idle-game style wait timers, like (wait 4 hours before being able to switch a module out again.)
