So what are your current player goals?

1. Finish the buyout for an A rated battle ready anaconda
2a. Engineer the anaconda so it can PVE indefinitely
2b. If above is not possible or enjoyable, build an FDL that can
3. Visit Jaques, and discover a black hole on the way
4. Grind imp rank to buy a Cutter and engineer it to be a super trader
5. Rebuild my Clipper as a miner
6. Build a planet surface racer capable of 700+ m/s

The wonderful thing about sandbox games is seeing the things other players find to do.
So what are your current goals, and do you have a long term goal?

For myself:
Get a Federal Corvette and kit it out.
Explore - find an earthlike (preferably with a landable moon) in an unclaimed system, and claim it for myself. (closer to the current bubble the better!)
Gain Elite status
Find the ultimate planet for canyon racing

For me: To retire!

Yes, I'm role playing so hard I'm going to just keep playing until I'm 175 and retire. Maybe I'll leave my assets to an Imperial slave kid someday, give 'em a chance at a nice future.

My main goal is to get get Grade 4 Efficient Pulse Lasers on my cutter. Gonna unlock Broo tonight.

Goal after that, is to get Phasing Sequence on said pulses, and corrosive rounds on my multis.

After that, Mod out my Courier in whatever way pleases me at the time. Probably for bounty hunting.

After that, mod my iEagle to be a surface racer.

After that, make my Clipper as tough to kill as possible, so I can mine in a Haz Res for laughs.

After that, achieve Elite Combat status.

These are some of my long term goals which are subject to change (of course):

1. Become Elite in trading (currently Tycoon)
2. Buy and A rate an Anaconda, upgrade FSD with Felicity to grade 5, thrusters dirty grade 3
3. Explore beyond the bubble
4. Become Elite in Exploration (might come back before that)
5. Outfit Anaconda for combat with Ship Launched fighters (as we'll have 2.2 by then)
6. Work my way to Elite in Combat

I'll have to be flexible though, particularly with an Alien invasion on the horizon (no pun intended).

1)Trader Elite: my nearest goal and my first elite rank. I'm 20% tycoon at the moment and I need a fair bit of cash for the rest of my plans so that'll come hopefully pretty soon.

2) work on engineers. I have an adequate roll on a tier 5 FSD on my Anaconda... And that's about it. Main priority is getting my FDL modded up, cos as I understand that makes a huge difference for a combat ship. I have finally settled on a weapon loadout I like just tonight (huge gimballed MC, 2 each of medium fixed railgun and pulse laser), and I'm thinking my order of priority here goes something like FSD (because I'm getting like 11ly and getting anywhere is a pain), power plant, distributor, shield generator, shield boosters, weapons, thrusters. That's gonna be some work.

3) outfit my Anaconda how I want it. At the moment it's a hauler/explorer with some guns for emergency, but I'm aiming to Swiss army knife it. I want this to be my do anything ship. Eventually I'll be heading out to Jaques in this and I want it to make the trip and be able to do whatever I need when I get there. That'll need some modding, but probably not as heavily as the FDL since I'm only planning on using it for combat now and then.

4) couple more ships. I want to kit a Cobra out for something, and probably a Python. These will probably end up as the baby versions of the other two. A cheap combat ship that I can chuck around when I feel like it, and a general mission runner for when I need to access medium pads. Anything else, maybe. I could get an AspX but I'm planning on using the Anaconda for long range exploration. I'd like a Corvette but I'm only Petty Officer and I honestly don't know if I can face the grind. Possibly an Orca too so I can run transport missions if they turn out to be worth it.

5) eventually (probably some time after 2.2) I'll be heading for Jaques. It'll depend a bit how the plot plays out in the bubble in the near future cos I dunno if I'll want to be that far out if things get exciting, but in the long run I'd like to head out there permanently and help with the colonisation.

I think that's pretty much it. Plenty to do!

Short term, I'm looking at grabbing some more componants for a bi-weave upgrade for the Engineers. I'm not fixating on it. I know it's a mission reward, and the boon is that I'm balancing that out with grabbing/stacking any lucurative missions that appear as I scan the boards.
Short term #2 - my second ship had a naff roll on a grade 5 FSD. My fault as I discarded the roll before. I need some high-wake data. I'm not rushing to sort that. If I'm passing a nav beacon or station and spot some high-wakes I'll go for a scan. It's secondary.

Mid-Term, good question. My Python's FSD is now over 30ly so thinking about doing some long run high risk trade runs. High Res is out thanks to components for Engineers in my hold, so sticking to trade. Come 2.2 and module storage, might change that policy. I want to keep upgrading my Python where it suits. It's getting tough now as I want to keep the FSD range and I don't want to limit that by upgrades that might take from that. We'll see. Once shields are done, I'll go on to power and weapons, see what balance I can make there.

Long-term, hold out till 2.2. Change my gameplan there. Want to try some passenger missions, get a shipkit for the python, buy a keelback perhaps just to try out some fighters. Ultimately my next long term focus is to move up my combat ranking. Just moved my trade to Broker, Exploration and Combat are sitting as next slow upgrades.

1. Max out a Corvette with fully-engineered PvE and PvP module loadouts.

2. Have a loadout with fully-engineered missiles in every hardpoint all bound to one fire group.

To have fun. That's it, really. Don't care about credits. Don't care about leaderboards. Don't care about anything I don't find fun in the moment. Could be combat. Could be trading. Could be mining. Could be doing nothing in particular.

For now, just making enough money to go from my Python to an Anaconda in preparation for the next update.

Then i'll get bored of the game very quickly again, and wait for the next update :p There's just nothing much interesting to do for now.

currently engineering in my fdl (with cargo racks and srv! XDD), no hurry whatsoever. dbs, eagle, ieagle, cobra and conda are on queue... that's basically a permanent 'lifetime' goal because i have several mod projects in mind and am not rushing at all, just having fun atm doing missions and roaming around the bubble, and pvp when it happens.

and then, inbetween or in parallel and in any order i would like to:

pirate.

finally do some serious exploration. in a modded eagle. would love to roam the immensity of the void, far far away, in that 'tiny' little bird. and that canopy! awww!

maybe also socialize a bit for a change.

take part in some pvp tournaments. preferably in eagles! anyone?

find a really nice spot to make myself sort of a home ... (but would be still travelling a lot. i'm always looking out for candidates. i've already almost covered the distance to beagle point (my status panel says) but the farthest i've been from the bubble is maia XDD)

also get a few permits i miss.

couldn't care less about ranks (got my combat elite long ago and still learning to fly XDD) and have more credits than i can spend, and they keep coming in! not interested in anything bigger than a conda (and that's a big exception) but i already have one. not interested at all in passengers, multicrew (except fighters! yay!) or character creator either. so there won't be much for me in the next updates and this would spell a bleak future ... but anyhow i play since release and i'm still having a blast every single time i log in. there is sooooo much yet to do.

i've given up waiting for frontier to really ever deepen the core gameplay and bgs, or fix the network and multiplayer issues, and am simply enjoying what's available, which isn't little. looking forward for improvements trickling into the galaxy.

one goal i gave up was to prestige in cqc, it just got old. i still enjoy some deathmatches now and then for fun, though.

tl;dr: endless fun!

mine is to currently fly the spitfire fr 47 in war thunder .... woops

Sounds like you want Flight Assist off for that. Boost, turn FA off and fly away endlessly.

My goals are:

To finally reach Elite in exploration.
Fully upgrade my Fer-de-Lance.
Find living proof of Thargoids.
... and to learn how to fly my Anaconda [big grin].

Thanks for the response.
Tell me, can we power down engines, as in 'off' in ED now. Or are the engines & thrusters always turned on ?

Just staying out in the black fer as long as possible...until I got no choice but to go back to the bubble. Then I'll adapt my build in whatever way is needed and leave the bubble again if I'm still playing. The longer I play in the bubble, the more I want to quit altogether ^^

I'm halfway to Sag A* in an Imp Courier. Short, 20ly, jumps and scanning everything (bar asteroid belts) in every system I jump to.
By my rough calculations, based on the amount of time I get to play and how much distance I cover on average (systems with no or few bodies are quick to get through, systems with many take some time*) I should be back in the bubble in time for Season 4.

*I think the longest I've spent in one system was about 2 hours. It had 96 bodies, none of which were asteroids. Plus I stopped to race around on the ground and take some vanity shots :)

1. Get Felicity upgrades open
2. A grade my Python and make it combat ready
3. Engineer Python FSD and thrusters with Felicity
4. Do the same with my Cobra MkIII
5. Save enough credits for re-buys
6. Go fighting / do missions
7. Buy Anaconda etc...

I recently set out to make Lt Commander with the Feds and achieved that, I then did my first bit of Space Trucking and earned my way to Broker. Right now I'm gradually pimping out my FDL and enjoying a few battles in between big money Cargo Missions so I'm kinda floating around at the present time and happy with where I am.

I think in the near future I may set out to Rank up with the Empire as the Feds are essentially a boring lot :p
