So where is Empire space?

With no wipe on the cards I'm going to start playing seriously and am now wondering where Empire space is?

I play through the DK2 and navigating the galaxy map in that is a real PITA.

Is it near Sol or any of the starting beta areas? Can't remember where I am exactly but I know I'm in Federation space.

Set your Gal-Map to Map Mode and make sure Allegiance filter is set. Then go "Down" below federation space and you'll find it.

The main Imperial area is in Achenar in the Galaxy Map ( grey text ) when you zoom out.

Like others have said, head to Achenar - it's the Imperial capital.

As for the galaxy map in the DK2, I recommend getting an XBox 360 controller. It makes using the map way easier. Also, always tilt the galaxy map so you can see the "depth" of the selecting ring. Doing it side on is almost impossible.
