So, you don't have to slow down to use the FSS.

Well, not using the throttle anyway.

I was playing with my voice attack script and discovered that you can use voice attack to enter the FSS without having to move the throttle.
I created a command "Full system scan" which does :

1) Press "Zero Throttle Key"
2) Press "Enter FSS key"

Easy !
I use the throttle for the tuning key, so when I enter FSS it is tuned to where the throttle is set, usually about half way.
It works really well. I don't know whether the latest Astra packs include this, if they don't then they should !

Voice Attack is not required. You used to be able to set the same key to Zero Throttle and Open FSS in the bindings directly; since they 'fixed' it you can still do it but you have to edit your bindings file manually to add the same input to both.

I think I just have J bound to Zero Throttle, K to 'Open FSS'. So I just mash J/K. 🤷‍♀️

I did that temporarily during the beta, expecting to change it later ... never did 😝

Yeah, but I don't use the keyboard at all., even when I'm not in VR.
Plus, some people might not know this.

We used to be able to assign the same joystick button to zero throttle and open FSS in E:D's options interface, but unfortunately now it doesn't let me (it'll un-bind the button from the first control when I try to bind it to the second).

So I just manually edited my controls file. It's "Custom.3.0.binds", located in " C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\ ". First I assigned my joystick button to zero throttle in Elite, then exited out to desktop. Then I opened up that file in Notepad++, searched for "SetSpeedZero", then copied the joystick button to the "ExplorationFSSEnter" entry. Easy! :)

I use secondary key X to zero throttle and another key to enter FSS, and leave my stick main throttle on max, that way when I exit the FSS it's on full throttle, I find if you do that and get interdicted while using the FSS it won't auto-submit, you can still evade interdiction.
That's assuming you're somewhere you're likely to be interdicted. If you're out in the black exploring there's not much chance of that happening.
