So you want to play in Open, eh?

I can honestly say I had no idea there was a blockade going on. I went 4 times and just left the game running while I did other stuff like clean the bathroom and make lunch, I even went to pick up my kid at kindergarten once. You guys are the worst pirates ever! lol, worst blockade in history.

I did 2 runs in Mobius, 1 run in Open and 10 in Solo.
I was not stopped once.

Great blockade for me, never seen it ;)

Dear OP I would take you a bit more seriously if you weren't condensending, insulting, arrogant and, frankly, juvenile. No one cares for any for your boasting and your in game achievements. You are not that important. You really are not.

Thanks for the two tips I didn't know though. See, you are not all bad.

I totally disagree with the way CODE is implementing their ideology in the game rhythm. They sad that they are bored. It is not our problem. I enjoy this game every moment I play it (mostly solo). The problem of their boredness lays in them, not in the game. The deveopers are making their effort to make the game richful, with every major update. Every year the game will be even more interesting. And the way the guy spoke about their motives is totally egoistical, like they are superior or something. That's not the way to be productive. Shame on you.

I didn't get bothered in about 14 runs - all in open.

They finally got me when I went looking for trouble after my last drop off.

So is this basically an argument for Guilds or some similar grouping? The OP seems to be arguing for greater player communication and co-operation. While the forums are great they're not used by everyone, should we have some sort of system in-game for this rather than relying on third-party tools or sites for our co-ordination?

Not really, CODE acting like <snip> in OPEN and giving it large in the forums is as good as trolling for a massive argument, and that is what CODE are after. That's why they do what they do..

EVEN Robert foresaw what was coming and the very first reply was:

This whole post was a trolling set-up knowing exactly what would ensue.

I read the OP and facepalmed extensively, read Roberts immediate comment and thought, oh well more folks to Mobius then. Why folks so hell-bent on cleaning out open mode? I just dont get it..

:-|
I can understand that, and I can understand frustrated players leaving open. But there has been more than one here using it as an excuse to further their own agenda i.e.scrapping open and there is a mega-thread for exactly that. I am in favour of organised piracy groups for the reasons I've already given but the pad blocking and other exploits that have been touched on here are not something I can support, even if it is within the rules; it is my opinion that it is wholly against the spirit of the rules and the game. Still don't think it's time to write the code off though, there will always be a few in a group who try to spoil it for everyone and I'd rather give Code the chance to police themselves.

Named Minor Factions are coming, and Code could even one day "float" their power on the Powerplay Board. Their name would appear not just in Open, but Solo and Private as well! Along with faction NPc's etc.. that will be epic :D

Completely stupid. This game is crap for emergent gameplay.
OP did you know most players are in solo/group?
Elite Delicate.
Get used to it.

Powers can rise and fall and be extinguished.

How do you think that would go for them?

The fuel rats and all the open convoys from the Hutton CG over the last week would suggest emergent gameplay is happening.

What is an anchor wing?

"You have 1 wing who's is the "Anchor Wing". 1 or 2 other "Support Groups" would be waiting in "Normal Space" with 3 in the wing. The "Anchor Wing" is in super cruise doing the interdicting.

As soon as the "Anchor Wing" drops into normal space they disband the wing and get invited by the "Support Wings", after doing so the members of the "Anchor Wing" Drop a beacon and the "Support Wing" drops in and a show ensues.

We've managed to get 25 friendlies in one instance in under 30 seconds."

Excellent idea, and not a bad take on what the OP's post once you parse out the..yeah.

Many online games today have an issue with social tools ingame, they assume, quite wrongly, that the playerbase will use their official website/forums for that purpose, despite the fact that 10% of any game's playerbase USES the official website/forums according to the industry. MechWarrior Online suffered from this issue horribly at first, but Piranha has been adding tools ingame for social interaction, in a game that is totally team based and PvP only. Talk about your MAJOR oversight, not having such tools from day one, Piranha has taken a lot of well deserved flack for, but as I said, they've been adding tools to the game to fix the issue.

FD needs to do the same, Wings is a start, but it's barely scratching the surface, there's much more that needs to be done, lets hope FD understands this and has plans already in the works to address it.

Interesting post.

I agree with some of it, especially about there being a lack of other types of organised groups, such as a trade collectives, security forces and bounty hunters etc. Before ED came out I thought that folks would be all into that. Forming groups and organising combat training, providing security for traders and miners etc. It seems odd to me that such groups don't really exist. It does always seem to be just the pirate groups and killers that get organised.

On the other hand when it comes to exploiting weaknesses in the games mechanics, that's not really what I would consider playing in the spirit of the game. You can't expect folks to want to play with you, if you are just going to blatantly abuse every dirty trick in the book. No one likes to play cards with a cheat.

Clearly an exploit of a poorly coded mechanic - well done

Don't know, would be interesting to see. Lots of solo players might back the faction, it will probably be the first Play Faction to make it to PP. We will see, I am looking forward to being "entertained".

Based on the title of your thread :
[h=2]"So you want to play in Open, eh? "[/h]My Answer is Not really. The rest of your post is irrelevant to me, so I can only respond to your question. Maybe a poll would be better than just a question. A simple Yes/No poll.

Thanks.

I don't have to deal with you or the group you are posting about. :D

Well given their PR record lately and the mechanics of PP I wouldn't rate their chances of survival very highly to be honest.
