It would be also interesting to have a function to list enemy CMDRs active in our systems, with game mode displayed.Maybe it would be a good Inara function to list all gankers, to inform interested people's block lists.

Indeed.I've seen such lists (sorted by PvP kill count) and they are notoriously inaccurate. Apart from the top few CMDRs maybe, most people on those lists are not even gankers, but PowerPlayers, wingfighters and suchlike.
When I made such a proposal a long time ago. I was then convinced that it was bad and would interfere with greeting commanders. Now playing PP2 and catching enemies in the system, I am sure that showing an empty square is done with one goal - to help gankers find you!I think generally most people would like to play in the open but they also do not want to lose credits for being mindlessly ganked. Most ganking is just for the fun of it so I have a idea for a solution.
Create a module that changes the ship's signature to mimic an npc, giving the player a solid square instead of a hollow square on the radar. Gankers would have to scan your ship in order to see that "Cmdr" in the name. That would at least give players who just are trying to get in and out of a system a better chance of survival. This or have the system authority react much quicker and deadlier when wanted player is interdicting another.
I agree. Python is usually best choice for me and I have not found better ship yet- ability to land on medium landing pad opens more possibilities for me. I like imperial ships but clipper biggest drawback for me was always large landing pad.The iClipoer is another good ship, but I’m quite enjoying my OG Python for PowerPlay 2.0. It’s the perfect all a rounder while having enough cargo for the types of missions I enjoy. Quality is turning out to be more important than quantity in my experience, at least as hauling is concerned, and being able to take advantage of any opportunities I find along the way.![]()
I block, as I've said many times, but I almost always insist on seeing the obnoxious behaviour myself. If lists become commonly used, the new griefer activity will be putting innocent people on naughty lists.Maybe it would be a good Inara function to list all gankers, to inform interested people's block lists.
5 mins sitting in a port within the system will pretty much do that for you.Maybe it would be a good Inara function to list all gankers, to inform interested people's block lists.
Its better in Mobius, if i see empty squares its an excuse for a chin wag and often teaming up to do stuff.I am sure that showing an empty square is done with one goal - to help gankers find you!
I see your point, but there are protocols one could apply to assure a fair trial, such as requiring a certain number of witnesses, or screenshots from the "X killed you" screen.I block, as I've said many times, but I almost always insist on seeing the obnoxious behaviour myself. The only exception for me was the "Distant Ganks leaderboard" which they probably didn't mean to make public, and which I saw as more a signed confession than a third-party list.
Some people think if you kill someone who will then be angered enough to report you as a ganker, you probably did not engage in consenting PvP.Some people think anyone who engages in PvP is a ganker.

Solution for Ganking
In my experience yesterday that is not true. The only solution is not to fly in open.Solution for ganking: don't fly paper ships.
Indeed so PvPers can stop with the 'Hiding' in other modes rubbish now if that's your recommendation. There’s Solo and PG if you want to be safe from PvP
PvE / PvP flag.
Can't be simpler, and all the issues gone.
How about no.
The possible number of CMDRs per instance is limited and the last thing I want is my instances to be diluted by useless god mode ships.
You don't want to be shot at other CMDRs? Fine, leave Open and go to Solo/PG.

What would someone who is rarely seeking out hostile CMDR encounters and does not particularly want to invite them, but feels they are are a legitamate part of the setting and that their character should always be a viable target, choose in this system?
Interesting question, go around Sol now and ask it in Open.
