Some performance tweaks/fixes

Installed the mod(0.2) and tested it in the Coriolis concourse and in unpowered settlement.
In concourse, disabling glass reflections(F3 key) increases fps from 38 to 41 in some places, and has no effect in another. Disabling reflections on windows(F4 key) has no effect.
In settlement, disabling helmet reflection has no effect. Disabling glass reflections increases fps by 0-2. Disabling window reflections has no effect.
My PC specs - Win7 SP1, Ryzen R7 1700, DDR4 16Gb, Radeon RX580 8Gb. 1080P, Fullscreen mode. High preset but shadows - low, fx - med, terrain material - med.

The mod mainly disables reflections, so you'll gain fps in settlement buildings/concourses around windows, ceiling windows, guardrails, mission consoles.
It also improves the look of some of the overly lit stations as you approach them to dock.

Did you test next to a shop Window or a missions console ? Also, If you are far from the reflections, it seems the fps impact is not big. So the mod won't improve the fps much.

I need to check that, did EDO add too many reflections when docking ?

Also, as a reminder, the mod will probably stop working after today's patch.
I'll fix it if the reflection problem is still present.

PC Specs: 3900x / 32GB Ram / 3060ti / Game on SSD

Elite Dangerous Update 5

Vanilla:

System: Tionisla

Station - Concourse (Brett High) FPS: 19-24 / GPU 60% / CPU 1 Core. ~75-100% (all others not that high ~10-50%)
Settlement (Beck Synsthetic Enterprise) FPS: 25-32 / GPU 40% / Cpu 1-2 Cores ~75-100% (all others not that high ~10-50%)

With 3dmigoto: (indoor / outdoor reflection shaders disabled)

Station Concourse (Brett High) FPS: 50-75 / GPU 100% / CPU not that high ~10-50%
Settlement (Beck Synsthetic Enterprise) FPS: 58-70 / GPU 100% / CPU not that high ~10-50%

Ok, so far :
  • Reflections performance problem is still present :
All shaders toggles still work. I just need to filter the big ring on station exits again.
  • FX Quality performance problem on OFF/LOW still present (for fires):
Fires will tank your GPU unless you use Medium or use my fix (on the first page). You can check this one in the tutorial.

Those improvements are so insanely good. That’s more than doubling your FPS. I gotta try this when I get home.

is there a way I can disable the Star brightness and galaxy cloud/nebulae toggles? (or remap them to a different key?). I use F5 and F6 as part of my camera suite controls.

Sure. In the file, you can replace VK_F5 with no_ctrl no_alt shift VK_F5 (this will use shift F5 for example).

I will change the hotkeys in the next version. Cmdr PsychicEgg also told me that i should change those keys :)

Awesome, thank you!
