Some quick notes from the official Discovery Scanner Dev Diary 2 livestream

  • Suits can be upgraded and customised
  • Suits can be collected, not just keeping one at a time
  • Multiple copies of same suit can be owned and upgraded differently
  • Three types of social hubs, in starports, outposts and surface ports (was in Polygon article)
  • Talk face to face with mission givers
  • Some NPCs will be voiced (was in a previous article)
  • Can negotiate for mission rewards from mission givers
  • Negotiation success dependant on your reputation, influence, experience, faction status
  • Combat and non-combat missions

Good stuff.
  1. Do NPCs walk around in social hubs? Do they enter and leave social hubs after a couple of hours? So they're not always in the same spot.
  2. Do NPCs also have dynamic motion animations. Such as in GTA5. It means the animations are a bit different every time.
    • "Instead of using predefined animations, the characters' actions and reactions are synthesized in real-time; they are different every time, even when replaying the same scene."
  3. Can we also talk to some random NPCs that we encounter?
  4. What about peaceful solutions to combat missions? For example use stealth, no casualties to finish a mission.
  5. Can we order drinks and eat food?
  6. Is there a club or disco?

In GTA5 you can order stuff from a menu and the bartender will talk a bit to confirm.

Mass Effect has cool bartenders like this:

 
While I'm sure these recaps are appreciated I would say this is a stream worth actually watching. Especially the section with Luke (skip to where it looks like Stephen is interviewing a ship ....)
