Some Tourists...

Rolled into a station to drop off a passenger during my long, slow trek to Maia from Eranin (where I started the game). I'm not making a direct run, just sort of meandering there running courier, passenger, and combat missions as I go (although dragging my combat ship along can get pricey every so often). I go to the passenger board, looking to see if I can find one at least headed in my direction. I don't mind a few jumps out of the way, but nothing crazy. Then, I see it. One-way VIP run for 376,751 credits. Since my rep is low in this area, I almost click to accept without hesitation. Then I see it. He wants to go to Deriso... which is 22,031.56 LY away! For 375k?!?! This guy is obviously out of his g*******d mind, lol. I've taken sight-seeing tours that paid 3-4 times that amount and were all-around shorter by a longshot!

In all seriousness, I would love to know how these pay amounts are calculated.

Alright, so it must be a glitch in the Matrix. I am at Pasteur Station in LHS 6050. That's where the rich tourist wanting to go to Deriso was. I flip over to pick up some courier jobs and... TWO wth Deriso as a destination, both in the 770k CR range. My current ship has a jump range of 12.9, and in a few jumps I'll be at a system that can let me build the ship I plan to with a range of 34... but that would still take me several days to complete.

EDIT: and a courier mission for COlonia, one for Tenjin, one for Trakath... Am I missing something like a wormhole nearby?

Deriso is in colonia, totally seperate from the bubble. No federation, alliance, or empire. Usually those missions pay alot more, go a couple jumps over to a different station and you should get some that 20-50 mil each

I'm just trying to figure out why I am getting missions for that area of space, 22k LY away, all of the sudden. Like, an unusual amount of them. I'm in LHS 6050, and still very much starting out. I'm still running a Cobra Mk III and a Viper Mk III at the moment, with intentions of picking up and kitting out an AspX in another 3M credits or so (sitting on 13M, the build I'm looking at costs 16M).

There are usually quite a few. If you are on the edge of the bubble, toward the core, you might be getting more of them. Try heading closer to the middle of the bubble

Zooming out in the Galaxy Map, I look to be about 5/8- to 3/4-ish from the Core to the Edge of the bubble. I shouldn't be close enough to the edge for that. Especially since I had actually back-racked further in on the mission that took me to that station.

These missions are interesting for an extra income when doing the trip to Colonia. Especially the courrier ones, because they don't require cargo space or cabins. Just be careful, because generally there's this pirate that doesn't want you to succeed, and he finally catches you on the last leg of the trip in his combat FDS

I noticed these missions are generally offered in tourism-oriented systems.

These Missions IMHO are just there to check if the Player is paying proper attention ;)

(if some are caught off-guard, they get teached the respective lesson(s) the hard way xD )

Yeah... My second Sightseeing Mission taught me a valuable lesson along that line.

I probably had only been playing for a few hours or so, it was in my first week of playing the game or so. Took a sightseeing mission and it was a decently long trip (4-hour round trip in a Viper Mk III) and only had one destination. Not bad, easy money! So I took another. I failed to notice that there were two more destinations, and they were even further out. I starte that flight at 17:00-ish, and ended around 2:00-ish: 9 hours of flying! Needless to say, I haven't taken a sightseeing trip since (not to mention being SUPER tired for work that next morning) and won't untill I have a much better FSD range. A LOT of jumps, a lot of pauses to scoop fuel, and an IV drip of caffeine...

Pasteur Station is a Tourism station. Stations with Tourism economies always have a large number of missions - passenger and data courier - to go to the Colonia region.

As for the payout, the theory is that you fill up a large passenger ship to the max with all the available passenger and data missions. One such mission isn't worth your while, but a dozen of them might well be - especially if you were planning on travelling to Colonia anyway.
