Some Well Needed Feedback

So I want to say right now, I LOVE this game. It brings me back to my old Zoo Tycoon games and you guys have done an amazing job recreating that sense of pride and joy of looking at a well made personal zoo. However, I still have a lot of issues with the game that I think I share similarly with other players/members of this games new found community. So I want to give you guys some needed feedback that can make this game succeed more than it already has.

  • Zoo Keepers need to be better. I have many animals that go starving and even when I send for a keeper to visit the habitat or make them go to the feeder, they don't want to feed/water them. I've had many animals die from this issue, and I even have two zoo keepers just set on only feeding the habitat who still don't even do it.
  • PLEASE make it so there is an alert when bins, benches, and other facilities need replacing. It can go unseen for so long if you have such a big zoo with MANY bins/benches. Also can they not break almost every 5 minutes. Even with security, the amount of times they break is insane.
- Community challenges are fun and rewarding, however, they can really take a players attention away from making a zoo just to focus on one animal species and I think they need to be worked on or at least made a bit easier so that people don't have to worry too much about meeting the challenges quota. For instance, the gorilla challenge is currently up and a female gorilla can only produce one baby at a time, so I have to focus on my gorilla's mating way more than all of my other animals in the zoo, which is taking a toll on my zoo.
  • Time needs to not be as fast in this game. I feel like days/months past so fast that I have a tiger pregnant and then I put two bins down and they already are having offspring. Sure the speed time option should still be there but the slowest time needs to be much slower.
  • We need a more personal link with the animals. I think your should be able to go down into your zoo as your avatar and enter the pens and just be able to interact with your animals. It would really make you have a better connection with them and actually want to name them. You should also have a photography camera option and have a scrap book so you can take pictures of your favorite animals and when they were in the zoo. Right now they seem more like assets than animals because there is a lack of connection between the player and them.
  • More creature interaction animations would be nice. I saw from a lot of beta player's that they were told that the animals interaction animations would be more extensive in the final release and they would occur more often. But from what I'm hearing, it's still the same amount as was in the beta. I agree, I still think the animals need more animations.
  • MORE ANIMAL SPECIES. I bet this one has already been said enough by others in the community, but the roster, while decently sized, is lacking in a lot of way's. Why are there no marsupials or more tundra animals? I would think penguin's, polar bear's, koala's, kangaroo's and alligator's would be a no brainer for having in a zoo game, since they are common animals seen in zoo's. There needs to be more and I think there should be a decent amount added for free due to the lack of many on the roster.Which brings me to the next topic.
-DLC's should be cheaper and more packed with creatures and content. I really hope this game doesn't go down the same hole as Jurassic World Evolution, where the DLC only gave three or four creatures for $10-$20 and barely any other content. I think the best way to implement DLC would be in packs with WAY more items/creatures if Frontier want's customers to pay for DLC. The only way I would buy a DLC that's $10 for this game would be if it had at least 10 or more creatures and added items focused around that biome. For example going back to the marsupials, I would love an Australian Outback DLC that added many Aussie creatures and added a bunch of aboriginal/Australian themed facilities. The current Deluxe content pack DLC already worries me because $11 is a lot of money for a tiny hippo, komodo dragons, and the gazelle seen in all African safari's. Please Frontier, please do not go down this road with this game.

Went a bit long there, but I hope you look at this feedback Frontier and implement these into Planet Zoo. I have had a lot of fun with it so far and look forward to seeing what is made better and what new content comes to this game in the future. Thank you.

Tbh I think less animals, at the moment, is better. In fact, I think they probably should have made the current list smaller than it is... not because I just generally think we should have less animals, but because quality over quantity. Having so many different species has caused many of those species to be extremely lacking and not well developed. Many species behave completely innaccurately, have 0 variation between individuals at all, animals have no personality, group sizes and fighting is absolutely ridiculous... just to name a few major issues.

Frontier needs to focus on improving the behavior and quality of the current, existing animal species before even so much as thinking of adding more. Honestly I don't think DLC should even be on the table right now with how many serious issues this game has rn that need to be fixed, right in its core systems.

Good post, but I disagree about the DLC. People constantly want more content for a cheaper price, without even stopping to think how much money goes into DLC from Frontier's end to begin with. Game developers need to continue making money somehow in order to continue development, much of which is more on the backend (continuous free updates that fix bugs and crashes, all of which are done through time and money spent).

I do hope DLC is more fleshed out than JWE was, but I don't mind the price reflecting that either. I still feel Sims has a good approach about this, where their expansion packs contains tons of new content as well as new in-game mechanics. Then if you don't want to pay full price, there's almost always sales going on with them.

You're asking for essentially animals to be $1 each and I think that's too low. Each animal probably takes 2 weeks to a month, or more, to properly finish for the game, and that's over the course of full-time work from multiple people (modellers, animators, programmers, etc). So $3-4 for one animal isn't a far reach, in my opinion.

While I would hope they don't focus on DLC this early (if not at all), I still think their prices need to be cheaper. The money they are asking for their DLC is pretty bad, at least in my opinion, $10 on the gaming market can get you some fully fleshed out games like Undertale, Portal, and Portal 2. I agree that a lot of work goes into making DLC, but it is still DLC adding onto the main price of the full game. And Frontier HAS done better DLC in the past. Their Planet Coaster DLC added a lot of props and items with their own unique animations and style for the price of $10 each.

Why are we talking about DLC already? we have 75 animals so far - I have hardly used 20% so far - I haven't even touch a primate yet. If I wanted DLC it would be scenery packs - I dont need more animals that I wont use

The employee ai, I can agree with.
The vandalized stuff. Im wondering why we dont have a security page, like in PC, where we can click one button to replace all objects at once. (Though, somethings you still have to go manage by hand...like the speakers and education boards.)
The other stuff. Meh..Either been beat to death already, or seems a bit much..Like DLC..The game isnt a month old yet...lol

The employees can be a very frustrating feature, one I am still trying to figure out how to best utilize.

While it would be nice to have our avatar e able to wonder into the pens and interact with the animal, I really don't think I miss that, not with the available camera views. And I am not sure that it would accurately represent keeper/animal/vet interactions in general.

Having a camera icon to help take pictures would be nice. I keep forgetting how to take them right now.

Vandalism? I would also appreciate an easier way of dealing with this, or at least finding where the damaged items are.

Animals and DLC? I like the number and variety of animals we currently have. I know that I have not included even half of the animals thus far, so right now, I am in no hurry for more. As for the pricing and content of DLCs? I play the wait and see game. I shall wait until any DLC comes out. See what it has. And then decide if I think the price is worth paying to buy right now, or wait for a sale.

As for time. Yes, I would like to have the option for a slower pace, other than just pause, but I won't cry about it. Yes, I would probably enjoy challenges lasting longer, or having more time inbetween each one, at least while the game is so new, but it is my choice to participate or not.Yes, I wish I had more time to play, but I do like to eat and have a place to live, so I will play when I can and go to work as I should.
